hello kitty

Pretty solid week from BustedTees, one which reminds me that I’ve not even a look at American Horror Story yet. I’ve heard good things, but there’s just too much good stuff to watch these days. I’m sure that cynical Andy should hate the Beets by Schrute tee, but it made me laugh so I’ll let it pass.

I shouldn’t really post this shirt since it’s one of those mashups where I think it pushes the boundaries a bit in terms of copyright, especially as there are so many Hello Kitty collaborations which play with the iconic character which mean that a parody or mashup shirt could easily be confused with the real thing. Still, fun looking shirt!

Post image for Johnny Cupcakes x Hello Kitty launches on Thursday, get ready!

Last year the Johnny Cupcakes x Hello Kitty Halloween collection sold out in less than 24 hours, and I expect that this third spooky collaboration between JC and the cute kitty will sell out just as quickly, which is why I wanted to give you guys the heads up a couple of days early so you were aware of the launch.

They’re going live at 10AM on (EST) on Thursday, and the collection consists of three tees (which will be $40 a pop) and one hoodie (which I can’t find the price for). Any of you guys going to be picking one up?

I am really digging this, nice work by Joby, hopefully Sanrio won’t come knocking on Blure’s door with a C&D. I wish it was available as a t-shirt and not just a tank top, but that’s just me, Summer is coming and people want to get their arms out.

Daily Tees & News for December 22nd

by Andy on December 22, 2011

zombie enforcement agency t-shirt

Things really are getting quiet in the tee world as people get ready for Christmas and the last order dates are passed for most brands, hopefully we’ll all be able to relax soon.

But, but, where’s the reference in this TeeFury design?!

How weird that there would be a 1% milk shirt at Snorg this week, and then Shirt.Woot have something similar.

RIPT must be fans of The Walking Dead too.

ice skating hello kitty

Andy: I received this submitted post from someone called Melissa who apparently would really like it if I posted more cute things that are aimed at younger people and girls. Whilst HYA is largely meant to reflect what I like and what interests me, when there are 100,000 people per month looking at the site it can’t all be about me anymore, so I’ve tried to write about things that I think other people will like too, I did write about Hello Kitty a couple of days ago, but ‘cute’ things like that are fairly rare on the site.

If you too would like to see me posting more ‘cute stuff’ make your voice heard in the comments, on Twitter, or via Facebook, and if enough of you want it I will endeavour to be cute more often.

Hiya, I read your blog a lot and I was wondering if you could blog more about kawaii designs like tokidoki, hello kitty stuff for your fans that are into that sort of stuff. There are younger readers like me that love the cute stuff because it makes us feel happy. Can you do an interview with tokidoki and inoochi brand please?

I cannot upload any pictures from both the site because I don’t have permission but here is the link. They are very inspiring to us young girls out there because they bring cute characters to a whole new level and not just a brand trying to copy others. I think they are different and I think that is why hello kitty last a long time because they characters are different. Thank you for your wonderful blog keep up the great work.

3 New Hello Kitty design from Mighty Fine

by Andy on December 9, 2011

hello kitty t-shirt

When it comes to Japanese pop culture it doesn’t get much more iconic than Hello Kitty, so I’m sure that Mighty Fine are really glad that they’ve been given the opportunity to release original designs featuring the cute little cat. They’ve got quite a few Hello Kitty designs in their store, but the three above at the latest, showing her as a bandit with a heart on her bow. The pink shirt will set you back $25 and the other two are $30 each. Kawaii!

Daily Tee and News Roundup October 26th

by Andy on October 26, 2011

twin peaks t-shirt

I had no clue what this shirt was about so I looked in the TeeFury comments, apparently it’s Twin Peaks.

‘A study in turtles’ at Tilteed could easily be renamed ‘a study in cuteness’.

Very cool zombie defense t-shirt from Nowhere Bad today.

Nice use of negative space from, very wearable shirt.

Cool tee from Shirt.Woot, I’m sure I’ve seen this ‘taking the bus’ concept (and possibly even this shirt) before, maybe it was at Tilteed?

Fun shirt from RIPT for what I’m sure are the massively overlapping audiences of the Watchmen and Hello Kitty.

I had to look this TeeMinus24 shirt up, apparently Zarek is something to do with Battlestar Galactica.

Thou shalt not rip on 24tee every day. Different strokes for different folks. Actually, this shirt is pretty cool.

At first I thought that this Loviu shirt was just a paint blob, which would have been cool, and then I notice the stars and Saturn, which definitely kicked it up a notch.

I don’t get it? Catch of the Day Tee.

Really nicely put together Back To The Future design from Shirt Punch, they’ve certainly come out of the blocks strongly.

Adam over at I Am The Trend has put together a video review of White Pine Patriot, how do they stack up against his 4P’s of tees.

Camiseteria have released a couple of great new tees that you will have to test your Portuguese on if you really want to buy them.

All white tees are on sale at Typography Shop, all down to $14.99 until they’re sold out.

This Australian fellow wants to get into the t-shirt game, and he’s going down the Rockethub route (that’s Kickstarter for people without US bank accounts), give him your support if you like the tee.

Apparently New Zealand is back to work and being productive after their World Cup win at the weekend, because Cuppa-T will be selling tees at the Armageddon Expo in Auckland this weekend.

It’s almost November so you know what that means, seeing guys with really thin mustaches doing their bit for charity. I’m tempted to give it a go myself, would any of you guys sponsor me? Fuzzy Ink have a global partnership with the Movember Foundation this year, and they’ve produced some great shirts for the occasion.

hello kitty johnny cupcakes t-shirt

These shirts are being released today, June 3rd, at all the Johnny Cupcakes locations in the US as well as online. The Hello Kitty connection makes these valuable to a lot of collectors, and it being a Johnny Cupcakes cranks that up a notch for a lot of people too, so if you want to get any of these shirts you’re probably not going to have a large window of opportunity to pick them up.

johnny cupcakes hello kitty t-shirts

People get addicted to buying EVERYTHING that Hello Kitty produce, and a slightly smaller amount of people will do practically anything to get their hands on the latest Johnny Cupcakes merchandise, so it’s hardly surprising that if you combine the two you end up with some t-shirts that look kinda cool (they aren’t amazing, but they’d definitely get a reaction from your non-tee-obsessed friends), which will probably have sold out by the timethis post goes live.

Also, JC says that the Carnaby Street store in London should be opening March 12th, let the countdown begin!

Say hello to

by Andy on August 14, 2008

I don’t really know anything about the world of hats, I didn’t even know that they could also be called ‘lids’. I like them and have a small collection for when I just can’t be bothered to sculpt my hair (and it is sculpting sometimes), but my knowledge of who’s hot and who is not is very, very limited. So with that in mind, here’s Hat Hype, a blog all about New Era hats, fitted caps, and lid related news. Anyone know of any other cool hat blogs? I can see myself turning from “Andy the t-shirt guy” into “Andy the t-shirt guy that also wears hats.”

Hello Kitty No 5 by Public Library

by Andy on March 26, 2008

I don’t know if this is an officially licensed product (after being in Hong Kong, I’m skeptical of all Hello Kitty merchandise’s authenticity), but judging by the amount of kitten cuteness associated with Public Library from a quick Google search I’d be willing to accept them as legit.

It’s a funny design, the red bow on the corner is such a cute touch, although it would be nice if they’d actually used a white t-shirt since the Chanel No 5 perfume box is white (if I remember all of those birthday presents for my mother correctly).
