I can’t remember if I had Mexican food when I was in California, which seems to be an extraordinary oversight on my part if that was the case. Guess I’d better go back then.

If all has gone to plan (this is robo-posted remember) I will be in bed in Newcastle having just enjoyed a great night out with the boys as this post goes live. I’ve visited Newcastle a lot as I’m half-geordie, but I’ve never sampled the nightlife (except for seeing New Found Glory, Fenix TX* and the RX Bandits there years ago, and getting knocked out by a flying stage diver). I’m also hoping that I got to visit the
Electrik Sheep brick & mortar shop yesterday (again, remember, this is robo-posted), because I’ve wanted to go there for ages.

I’ve spent quite a lot of this year looking like a tourist, and as someone who has a lot of experience in the field, you don’t need a t-shirt from
BustedTees to look like a tourist. I’d like to think that when I was in Philly I got away with not looking like a tourist, because after a few weeks I knew where I was and what was going on, also, I was on my own, which I think makes it a lot easier. I also found myself hating all other tourists, especially when I was in New York, and especially when they were British. People of New York, I implore you, we are not all like that, some of us know that street corners are not good places to open up large maps. On the subject of large map and guidebooks, I love Not For Tourists because their guidebooks are small, have every bit of info in them that you need as a tourist, and only contain small maps (half of each double-page spread covers a few blocks), they’re brilliant.

Hold up, you mean not everyone in Ireland worships the ground that Bono walks on?

Love & Tug, the clothing brand that probably has a doppelganger in the Far East that sells ‘massages’ rather than t-shirts, are running a summer
sale at the mo, and the prices are pretty darned tasty. £5 for the ladies and £8 for the guys. That’s good, but consider that they were £25 just a few weeks ago, yeah, the deal looks even better now, right?
The designs have a celebrity slant to them, three tees feature Pete Doherty, Kate Moss, and Lindsay Lohan, which I’m not all that interested in to be honest, I quite like the designs themselves, but I just wouldn’t want those people to be on my chest, except for maybe Lohan… and perhaps Kate Moss, but the further Pete Doherty is away from me the happier I am. L&T also have a great design that riffs on the familiar ‘I [heart] NY’ tee, but instead of NY, it’s ‘rehab.’ If I were them, I’d post one of those off to Amy Winehouse quick, the tabloids would love it!

I think I name-check Newcastle way too much on this blog considering I don’t live there and only go there about 4 times a years to see family and football, but this
hoodie is yet another clever twist on the classic ‘I [heart] NY design that we see being played with so often that there could easily be an ‘I [heart]‘ blog.
For those of you that are unaware, the bridge on the design is rather-famous Tyne Bridge, which is a bit of an icon in the area, although over the past few years a lot of new landmarks have been erected, such as the Millenium Bridge, Sage Centre, and of course, the Angel of the North (not technically in Newcastle, but associated with the region).
