Camo Pocket Tees released by Kiks Tyo

camo pocket tee by kiks tyo

I try not to follow trends, I like what I like and encourage you to do the same, but even I’ve noticed the rise of pocket tees this year, and it’s a trend that I’m happy to see because I think they look pretty cool and some people are doing fun stuff with them. These shirts from Kiks Tyo aren’t exactly cheap at about $50 a pop, but they’re a premium brand and if you like it enough I’m sure you’ll find the cash. Oh, and if you go on a spree and spend more than 20,000 yen then you can get free shipping with the coupon code KIKSTYOFREESHIP.

Costiness=¥3,990 Buy it at Kiks Tyo

teefury grab bag

Usually I think that mystery tees/grab bags are a bit of a waste of time, but in this instance I’m willing to be less cynical and accept that it’s a great way to pick up some shirts for friends & family at Christmas, pick up a couple of shirts in each size (you can order up to 12 per size) and if something turns up you like keep it for yourself, if not give it to a family member!

I really, really like this Hokkusai-based t-shirt design at RIPT today, absolutely fantastic.

All the bacon and eggs! Shirt.Woot.

Starship Troopers t-shirt

When I first saw Starship Troopers I thought it was awesome because of all the guns and explosions, and even a couple of boobs here and there, but now that I’m an adult I realise that it’s actually a bit smarter than it’s often given credit for. $10 today at TeeFury.

geisha t-shirt by KIKS TYO

I think this is the first time that I’ve posted KIKS TYO stuff that doesn’t have hot asian models on them (I get the feeling that isn’t true, but HYA readers are far too nice to be pedantic and drag out an old post to prove me wrong…), and you know what, I actually like this stuff and don’t have to wonder who wears it, which is a nice change of pace. If you’re something of a big spender, any order over 20,000 yen (about $220 USD) can get free worldwide shipping with the coupon code KIKSTYOFREESHIP.

aya kiguchi t-shirt

Clearly I don’t understand Japanese streetwear culture, because I just wouldn’t be comfortable wearing these tees from KIKS TYO, am I alone in that, am I some kind of prude, do people really want to wear shirts featuring Mai Nishida & Aya Kiguchi wearing/holding sneakers? TELL ME I’M NORMAL.

kiks tyo coupon code

Kiks Tyo are an asian streetwear company, so it’s hardly a surprise that their prices are hardly bargain basement, which is why ths coupon code for 25% is most welcome, but hurry, it is only live for Black Friday and I don’t know what timezone they’ll be working from.

30% off Summer Sale at Kiks Tyo

by Andy on August 3, 2010

KIKS TYO summer sale

Sure, quite a lot of their designs revolve around their name and the genius concept of putting hot asian models on their shirts, but they do have some cool stuff, and 30% is a pretty nice discount. There’s also free shipping if you spend more than 20,000 yen, I know that sounds like a lot…. and it is, around $230, but hey, if you’re spending that much you might as well get free shipping with the coupon code KIKSTYOFREESHIP. Oh, and no word on when the sale will be ending, either.

I know I mention KIKSTYOs collaborations with models too much, but the strange thing is, these posts are actually pretty popular according to my stats, and people aren’t searching for the women featured on the tees (most of which are gravure models), they’re actually searching for the tees themselves, so I guess that some people must really like them. I had wondered what the quality would be like on these photo-tees, even though they’re largely in grayscale, but judging by this picture on Flickr they look pretty good.

These latest releases feature Yuko Ishida, the lady covered in green feathers, and a group known as Shanadoo, which comprises of Manami Fuku, Marina Genda, Junko Fukuda and Chika Shibuya.

More hot asian women on t-shirts = genius!

by Andy on October 31, 2008

Sometimes I have to wonder how I get put onto certain mailing lists (the amount of hip hop mixtapes I get sent is astounding), but the niche market of “photo t-shirts with hot asian women on them” is pretty unexpected. It’s also unexpected that there is more than one brand that does this regularly in their collections. I would say this though, once you get past the boobs and look at the regular stuff in Quolomo’s site, it’s actually pretty good.

GORILLI introduces QUOLOMO to Europe

QUOLOMO is a t-shirt, apparel and lifestyle project from Tokyo. Producing clothing under the central theme: “Design Japanese Culture,” QUOLOMO creations and collaborations draw inspiration from the array of sub-cultures, artists, pop-culture personalities and animated characters of Japan. In traditional Japanese language, QUOLOMO means “wear”. When producing t-shirts and apparel, QUOLOMO aims to create wearable garments dedicated to the time tested sensibilities and standards of quality, artistry and originality.

The first delivery of the QUOLOMO collection is now available in the Gorilli Concept Store in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and also online in the Gorilli Webshop. As always in limited quantities only. Second delivery will follow soon. So stay tuned.

Also, I don’t think anyone has ever sent me an e-mail with 27 attachments on it, but I’m going to put them all in the gallery anyway after a /more, so click on through for more pics.

Kiks Tyo’s Autumn Range

by Andy on October 21, 2008

It’s not too often that I come out and say I don’t like a tee (usually because I only write about things I like), but I feel I’ve done that more than once with Kiks Tyo, and usually with fair reason in my opinion, but I really like a lot of the long-sleeve options that they’re offering with the Fall/Autumn collection.

I can’t really imagine people actually wearing this stuff, although Asian streetwear culture is vastly different to ours, so they’re probably all over it, but for some reason I kind of admire the audacity of a brand for putting bikini-clad models on to t-shirts. Here’s the blurb for the top tee:

On October 3rd, Limited Edt will release a Singapore exclusive tee featuring Yuko Ishida standing inside the infamous “Vault.” Since 2005, Limited Edt’s appointment-only Vault has housed some of the rarest sneakers in the world, on display for the people of Singapore and visitors from around the globe.

The tee features a white bikini clad Yuko holding a pair of the cult-classic Air max 90 infrareds and wearing a pair of Limited Edt’s own New Balance 577 collabos.

This tee will be available exclusively in Singapore on October 3rd, at the following Limited Edt locations: Limited Edt Vault, Limited Edt Queensway, LE2 and Limited Edt Peninsula.

I did a little googling around to find out who the woman on the shirts was (Yuko Ishida), and aside from her being a ‘gravure model’ (whatever that is) and singer, I found a blog post in which she’s wearing a bra made up of rice bowls, which is about as sexy as it sounds!

I say that this won’t be around for long for two reasons:

1) It’s limited to 100 pieces worldwide.
2) I doubt that they’ve got a license for it, and the IOC aren’t particularly well known for being cool with people making use of their magic rings.

I quite like the print on the back, its rather more interesting that most of the official merchandise, but I can’t work out why they’ve put their logo and that distinctly uninspired font on the front. Get rid of the front print and switch the back print to the front and I’d be a lot more impressed with this. If you’re impressed, you can find it (unless its already sold out) at the following stores.
