greg abbott thirtee

I’ve often wondered why one of the world’s most prolific t-shirt designers, Greg Abbott, has never opened his own shop, kind of the like same way Glennz branched out to his own brand after being printed at Threadless about a million times.

Thanks for Thirtee, Greg now does have a shop, but only for the next month. Thirtee are a new brand (this is their first month) that lets one artist take over their shop for a month, showcasing ten of their best designs, charges $12 per tee, and prints them on American Apparel t-shirts. I can’t really see anything wrong with that equation: cool designers + quality t-shirt blank + low prices = goodness

Their site is a bit bare bones at the moment (too much so really, if a ‘name’ artist like Abbott wasn’t attached I would probably have some concerns), but the designs certainly look good, and you’ve got until the end of the month to pick any of them up (after which who knows where they’ll end up).

demons by tilteed

I got a bit of flak on the Scott Pilgrim post for not spending hours researching every reference I didn’t understand, so I’m a bit cautious about asking, but I don’t even know what to Google for this; those cat like eyes, are they from anime, or is it the Cheshire cat from Alice In Wonderland? I don’t watch much anime at all, but something is telling me that’s where that mouth and eyes come from. You assistance would be greatly appreciated!

This Tilteed tee is in their limited range, so in about a day and a half the design will be gone and you won’t be able to pick it up again for that sweet price of $12.

a better tomorrow geek t-shirt

I wonder if the message in the speech bubble means anything, that would be cool. I put it into a binary translator and nothing came up that was legible, but I may have been doing it wrong, as I am not geeky enough to understand binary!

“Shapeshifter” by Thomas Kraky at LTD Tee

by Andy on January 18, 2011

LTD tee t-shirt

This shirt isn’t for me, it’s just not my style, though I do find it to be quite wearable, so maybe some of you guys might like it. Here’s what LTD Tee themselves have to say about the design, and the designer:

A few weeks ago I received an email from a young man looking to get his artwork placed on one of our t-shirt releases. Though I didn’t think any of the designs he submitted would work, I took a quick spin through his blog and found this piece. So tough luck to all the other tee sites, it’s ours :P Any aspiring artists should definitely reach out to us!

Inspiration behind his piece:
“The Shapeshifter was a drawing where I was trying to capture that ball of twisting energy a school of fish has, so I kept repeating spirals. I also wanted to see if I could design her clothing to be completely from nature.” – Thomas Kraky

Thomas Kraky is a 23 year old freelance illustrator, designer, and concept artist. His work incorporates themes of love for the natural world, weaving plants, animals, and people together as one. This Northeastern Pennsylvania native recently relocated to San Francisco.

Don’t forget to use code “hideyourarms” to get 10% off your order!

As ever, your $26.99 (before discount) will get you the tee, an art print, and that lovely box. There had been comments on previous LTD Tee posts about them taking a while to send out tees and sometimes sending out the wrong tee, but in my experience they’ve always been quick to respond to e-mails, so if something goes wrong (mistakes happen) I’m sure they’ll sort it out.

monopoly t-shirt by christopher dombres

Let’s not get into the irony of people selling t-shirts on an anti-capitalist theme, and me then posting about LTD Tee with an affiliate link, though to give LTDTee their due they have sold tees on this theme before so it isn’t entirely new for them, and I need affiliate links to maintain my lavish lifestyle, so we’re all good, right?

In fact, as part of LTD Tee’s agreement with the artist (Christopher Dombres) to sell the shirt this week, they’re giving away the high-res version of the design away as a free download to do with as you wish because this design is copyright free (though I feel that artist attribution would be nice). I think that the image would make a pretty sweet graffiti stencil.

vaughn de heart hoodie

And by dark, I am clearly not talking about some gory designs, but rather that all the items in this collection are black (if you don’t look at the bits of white, of course) which is appropriate as it was released on Black Friday (remember that? Has your credit card recovered yet?). The interesting thing about this release from Vaughn de Heart is that in the collection there are 7 items, of which only 7 of each were printed, that is pretty limited, so I’m quite surprised that there are any pieces of this classy collection left, but they are still listed in the store, which may have something to do with the rather premium, though in no way extortionate, prices.

It looks like a really classy, high quality collection, so if you like the colour black and the number 7 you should probably check it out.

ltd tee t-shirt

This weeks shirt design at LTD Tee is actually a remix (more of a recolouring) of a previous shirt, though I think that the green suits this design. Am I the only one that looks at it and sees a washing machine?

This week you can get 25% off the $29.99 MSRP using the coupon code 25off, but last week the MSRP was $26.99, $24.99 before that, $24.99 before that, and $27.99 before that! I assume this jumping around with the price is reflective of the amount it costs to produce the tee that week, or perhaps to pay the artist, either way, I think I’d prefer for them to have a solid price, but whatever works for them.

Whaaa, a black shirt at LTD Tee?

by Andy on November 2, 2010

ltd tee t-shirt

LTD Tee are clearly stepping out of their comfort zone this week, taking the unusual step of printing a design on a shirt that ISN’T white, crrrazy!!!

Seriously though, it’s a really cool design, and looks a lot better on black than it would on white. The shirt is $26.99 and available from now until November 7th. This week also sees the triumphant return of a coupon code for HYA readers! You can get 20% off your purchase with the coupon code hideyourarms, yeah!

Happy Monsters Collage by LTD Tee

by Andy on October 25, 2010

ltd tee monster t-shirt

I really really dig this design, collages are a bit of a soft spot for me. I think it might have benefitted a bit from a few more colours, but that’s not much of a gripe as it does look pretty sweet in this format. No HYA coupon code again this week from LTD Tee, so you’re stuck with the full price of $24.99 for the tee, art print, box, and LTD Tee sticker pack.

A colorful elephant stops by Tilteed

by Bo on October 22, 2010

tilteed t-shirt

Do you like elephants? How about the artwork of Jared Stumpenhorst (stumpyhorse)? If the answer is yes to either question, then you’re going to love Proboscidea, the latest Tilteed Limited design! This illustration does a great job of mixing the organic and the abstract together into one cohesive entity. It really shows the wear and tear that you see in elephants out in the wild.

You can get your copy of Proboscidea by stumpyhorse for $12 at Tilteed until Noon PDT on Saturday, October 23.

“Mind Fragments” by UPSO at LTD Tee

by Andy on October 15, 2010

UPSO t-shirt

Sorry that I’m so late on this one gang, but you still have a few days to pick up LTD Tee‘s latest and great shirt. Usually I’d think that the print being in a square like that (which the edges of the design being cropped out) would be something of a cop out, but in this case I think it works pretty well. For the first time ever (EVER!) it would appear that LTD Tee aren’t offering HYA readers a coupon code, which is a bit of a downer, but $24.99 for the tee, art print, and cool box is still a pretty good deal.

LEGS by Lady Love at LTD Tee this week only

by Andy on September 27, 2010

ltd tee legs

It’s fair to say that this week LTD Tee are offering us a rather abstract design… but I like it, and I really like that colourway. You might notice that the box the tee comes in is the same as last week, so I think that they may have abandoned the presumably-costly “shirt art on a box” that entertained us over the past few months. It’s a little unfortunate since the custom box art was something that no one else was doing, but if having the same box each week (and at least it is still a really cool looking box) makes the business more viable then I don’t think it’s much of an issue.

The regular price of the box set (tee, art print, sticker pack, box) seems to have gone up by a dollar, to $27.99, but to offset that increase the HYA discount has jumped up as well, you can get 20% off by using the discount code hideyourarms. The tee is on sale from now until October 4th.

ltd tee t-shirt

I really like this shirt, it’s a good style and the colourway is one of my favourites, but what realy caught my eye with this LTD Tee release was the box, I know it’s only thumbnail sized in this photo, but hot-damn it looks cool! As ever, the RRP is $26.99 (including the tee, art print, custom box, and some stickers), but you can get 10% off with the coupon code hideyourarms, and the t-shirt is on sale from now until September 26th.

Hunter S. Thompson T-shirt at LTD Tee

by Andy on September 8, 2010

hunter s thompson t-shirt

When I stayed in Las Vegas last year, being both cheap and wanting to recreate that road trip sense of adventure I avoided the ‘nice’ and ‘clean’ hotels of the strip and booked Circus Circus (after 3 months without earning any money, you may have done the same) because that’s where Hunter S. Thompson stayed, and I thought that it’s old-time Vegas style would be kind of cool. I was wrong, and I won’t take hotel recommedations from a high novelist ever again. I think the worst part of Circus Circus was that one day the hallway smelled okay, and the next it smelled of urine, and continued to for a couple of days. Oh, and someone stole the cap off the gas tank of our rental car, and the windows were filthy, and there was a pube on my pillow every night even though I removed it each day (I would have preferred a mint. I will say this though, their key-cards look cool, and it was cheap enough that we could splurge on some decent vodka and a proper trip around the Grand Canyon, which makes it all worth while.

Buy the tee, which is cool enough that I should have probably talked about it instead of urine-soaked hallways, at LTD Tee for $26.99 (it comes with the signed art print, sticker pack and custom box, remember), or save yourself 20% with the coupon code hideyourarms. The tee is on sale from now until September 12th (Sunday).

how to camp at a festival

Isn’t it weird the way that certain types of data representation become popular? I can’t remember what ruled the roost last year (bar graphs? Pie charts?), but infographics are certainly dominant this year. Yes, I realise that inforgraphic is a pretty broad term, but I’m sure you know what I mean.

I mentioned earlier this week that the British festival season was entering it’s tail-end (I always think of Reading/Leeds as the end point, though I’m sure there are still a few going on), that doesn’t stop this from being a cool, funny, and beautifully designed shirt, and it’s not like people who bought it would only wear it at festivals anyway. Only 25 of these were printed, and I get the feeling that they might have been available for a month or two, so they’re already down to size medium only, and this is one of those times when I don’t feel the need to apologise for making you guys miss out because I was only e-mail about this shirt today.

If you aren’t a size medium (or even if you are), you may want to check out their poster about how posters can be used to imrove the appearance of walls, meta-tastic!

“Corporate Luncheon” t-shirt by Tilteed

by Andy on September 3, 2010

shark t-shirt

Hammerhead sharks, what’s the deal with them? At some point during a nature documentary after the words “hammerhead shark” I expect to hear the phrase “freak of nature,” and if that doesn’t happen I will be mighty disappointed.

Really nice design this one, although funnily enough I think that the two characters are my least favourite part of the design, there’s nothing particularly wrong with them, I just happen to prefer the water pattern.

Costiness=$12 Buy it at Tilteed (you’ve got about two and a half days to pick it up)

What if the Vigrin Mary was hot?

by Andy on September 1, 2010

saint mary ltd tee t-shirt by adam jackson

Well, that certainly was an attention grabbing title, wasn’t it?

If you think about it, the Virgin Mary (Saint Mary as she’s described here) probably would have been hot, if she existed, which of course I don’t beleive she did as an atheist, but let’s say she did exist, she’s going to be the Mother of the son of God, that’s a pretty lofty title, so God is hardly going to pick an ugly lady, he’s a smart guy afterall!

This box set is available for presale at http://www.ltdtee.net from August 30th until September 5th. MSRP is $26.99 and our shirts come in both men’s and women’s sizes. Your readers can also use discount code “hideyourarms” to save 20% off their entire order!

ugmonk box set

Ugmonk has come a long way in 2 years, to the point where it has now become Jeff’s full-time job. For the 2nd birthday he’s released a gorgeous looking box set that’s limited to 200 pieces/boxes that I’m sure will fly off the shelves in spite of the $50 price tag. It was only released a couple of hours ago though so you’ll probably have a chance to pick one up if you fancy it. Since it’s the 2nd birthday the 2nd, 22nd, 122nd, and 200th boxes will also be receiving a free “2 are better than one” just in case you haven’t quite got that this is the second year that Ugmonk has been around.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy but you’d still like to pick up some Ugmonk gear then you’ll be happy to hear that there is a 20% off sale going on today and tomorrow. Jeff himself admits that it isn’t a huge saving, but considering that I can’t remember there being another sale or coupon code at Ugmonk in a long, long time, so it’s as big as you’re gonna get! The coupon code is TWOYEARS
