Here’s a curious story, I got an e-mail from Loiter Ink a couple of days ago (as I assume all their affiliates did) saying:

Loiter Apparel and Accessories is temporarily going off-line to address some production issues. We hope to be back up and running soon. We thank you for helping make our site a favorite, and we look forward to your continued support in the future.

That’s fair enough, it happens to companies all the time, rather than go on sucking they just try and make a clean break and start fresh. When I got home yesterday from a little business trip I was on (which, as you’ll know if you follow the HYA twitter feed involved some quite fantastic ribs) I thought I’d check out their homepage to see if there was any extra information. What I found was exactly the same site, as if they were still open for business, then I noticed a section called ‘blogs‘, which of course aren’t blogs at all but more of a forum (just like Threadless blogs). The blogs section was a little help, it has no news about them shutting down, but plenty of spam posts and a few from disgruntled customers complaining of poor customer service and missing t-shirts. That probably explains the ‘production issues’ alluded to in the e-mail I received. Taking the limited amount of information I have, the situation seems like a bit of a mess, are they offline or are they not? If they’re closed down they’re doing a fairly poor job of making it look that way. I know that there has been quite a few Loiter Ink orders made by HYA readers in the past, and I’m curious as to what kind of service you received, so please let me know in the comments.

Just so we’re clear, this post isn’t supposed to be a ‘Loiter Ink sucks/is a ripoff’ type post, but something seems to be going on there and I wouldn’t want you guys buying shirts if no one was receiving them.

202 Star Wars T-Shirts [Lists]

by Andy on July 16, 2009

star-wars-t-shirts-logo

I think that you’d be pretty hard pressed to find a series of movies that have gained as much of a following as Star Wars, and as you’d expect that has resulted in a huge amount of t-shirts being produced that reference the films in one way or another. So, being HYA, I thought that I’d better make an unnecessarily large list of them. As always, the t-shirts are not ranked, the numbers are merely there as an illustration so that we all know which is which, so being #1 or #202 means nothing. Some of these tees will be pretty recognisable as they’ve been featured on HYA before, and some were also in the 101 Robots List from last month, but if you know of any I haven’t featured then please let me know in the comments. The list has also been split up into pages to ensure swift loading times (my server may probably wouldn’t like people loading 202 pictures at a time).

As you would expect these lists take quite a long time (this one took about 30 hours, seriously), so if you deem it worthy, it would be fantastic if you could promote this article in any way. Twitter, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Digg, your own blog, carve the URL onto a tree, anything!

A few coupon codes from Loiter Ink

by Andy on July 13, 2009

new-coupon-banners-text-links-for-loiterink-_1247430025938

Loiter Ink released a few coupon codes recently that I thought you may find useful.

  • 2offeach – That’ll get you $2 off each item you buy.
  • free – Buy two tees and you’ll get a third one for free.
  • freeship – Shockingly, this coupon will give you free domestic (US) shipping when you order three tees.
  • I’m wondering whether it’s possible to use more than one coupon, because unless their shipping is very expensive, I can’t see why anyone would pay full price for three tees when they could get 3 for 2 instead, which is obviously 33% off, it’d be sweet if you could use them all though!

    101 Robot T-Shirts [Lists]

by Andy on June 19, 2009

    100robottees1

With the release of what is almost certain to be the greatest movie of all time today in the UK and across the world over the next week, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity for me to hunt down some robot t-shirts, especially as the previous robot-themed lists have are two of Hide Your Arm’s most popular articles to date. I must admit that I was a total child for the first Transformers live-action movie, even though I realise that in many, many ways it is utterly terrible, but I still smiled throughout the whole thing because it was goddamn awesome. Robots, fighting, and Megan Fox, what more could I possibly want? I’m pretty sure that you could rob my house whilst that film is on TV and I’d only realise you were doing it once you unplugged the Blu-Ray player. I guess you could say I’m a little excited about Revenge of the Fallen being released, which is why I went a little robot crazy and compiled this huge robot tee loving list. Enjoy!

*Update* If you’re in the mood for lists of t-shirts, check out this post: The Ultimate List of T-Shirt Lists!

This post took around 15 hours to compile, if you could take a few seconds to tweet about the post, stumble it, bookmark it on delicious, digg it, possibly even mention it in a blog post, I would be incredibly grateful, not only because it would send more visitors to my site, but also because it would help to support the brands featured, many of whom are pretty small and need all the exposure they can get.

This post was meant to be about Loiter Ink‘s current design contest to win $1000 (and 20% of the profits there-after), but when I went on the site I found this really cool ambigram (reads the same upside-down as the ‘correct’ way up) tee I decided that it MUST be posted, after all, I’m sure that a lot of you out there have been fretting for years about the most awesome tee you could wear whilst doing a keg stand.

Costiness=$17/$35 (tee/hoodie) Buy it now at Loiter Ink (who used to be called Lucky Threadz, right?)
