What happened to LTD Tee?

by Andy on May 16, 2011

I suspect that the answer to that question would be that LTD Tee decided to quietly quit the business (their Facebook and Twitter accounts have disappeared), or possibly go on indefinite hiatus, because I severely doubt that the screengrab above is accurate and they intend to relaunch with a new tee in about four years time.

It’s a pity that yet another t-shirt company has bitten the dust, especially one that was able to attract some big name designers (such as David Flores, who was their final artist), although they themselves would admit that they had their fair share of problems if I remember correctly. The limited-release t-shirt business is so saturated right now that it’s incredibly hard for a new brand to come in and establish themselves, frankly I wonder why anyone new would bother when I see the trail of closed businesses, but people always see TeeFury and Shirt.Woot first and think that they’ll have a shot rather than think about the growing collection of shuttered ventures.

If you have the inside scoop on what happened to LTD Tee, or you were one of the people that owned LTD Tee, I’d appreciate it if you could leave a comment.

“Shapeshifter” by Thomas Kraky at LTD Tee

by Andy on January 18, 2011

LTD tee t-shirt

This shirt isn’t for me, it’s just not my style, though I do find it to be quite wearable, so maybe some of you guys might like it. Here’s what LTD Tee themselves have to say about the design, and the designer:

A few weeks ago I received an email from a young man looking to get his artwork placed on one of our t-shirt releases. Though I didn’t think any of the designs he submitted would work, I took a quick spin through his blog and found this piece. So tough luck to all the other tee sites, it’s ours :P Any aspiring artists should definitely reach out to us!

Inspiration behind his piece:
“The Shapeshifter was a drawing where I was trying to capture that ball of twisting energy a school of fish has, so I kept repeating spirals. I also wanted to see if I could design her clothing to be completely from nature.” – Thomas Kraky

Thomas Kraky is a 23 year old freelance illustrator, designer, and concept artist. His work incorporates themes of love for the natural world, weaving plants, animals, and people together as one. This Northeastern Pennsylvania native recently relocated to San Francisco.

Don’t forget to use code “hideyourarms” to get 10% off your order!

As ever, your $26.99 (before discount) will get you the tee, an art print, and that lovely box. There had been comments on previous LTD Tee posts about them taking a while to send out tees and sometimes sending out the wrong tee, but in my experience they’ve always been quick to respond to e-mails, so if something goes wrong (mistakes happen) I’m sure they’ll sort it out.

monopoly t-shirt by christopher dombres

Let’s not get into the irony of people selling t-shirts on an anti-capitalist theme, and me then posting about LTD Tee with an affiliate link, though to give LTDTee their due they have sold tees on this theme before so it isn’t entirely new for them, and I need affiliate links to maintain my lavish lifestyle, so we’re all good, right?

In fact, as part of LTD Tee’s agreement with the artist (Christopher Dombres) to sell the shirt this week, they’re giving away the high-res version of the design away as a free download to do with as you wish because this design is copyright free (though I feel that artist attribution would be nice). I think that the image would make a pretty sweet graffiti stencil.

Really cool design, reminds me a bit of tattoo style art, but without the Ed Hardy connotations, which can on;y be a good thing, good work LTD Tee! (And by extension, Oliver Cramm, the tee’s designer)

Use the coupon code hideyourarms to get 10% off the $26.99 asking price at LTDTee.

LTD tee t-shirt

I didn’t care for the last LTD Tee shirt that I wrote about, but this time around is a completely different matter, probably because I have a bit of a soft spot for shirts that have the whole alphabet on them. Pick it up this week for $26.99, or save 10% by using the coupon code SWEET! (… what does mine say?).

LTD Tee x Jason O'Dowd

Frankly, I don’t like this tee, it’s just not for me, some people will probably like it, I’m not one of them, I can’t like everything though I do liketo point out what’s going on with LTD Tee which is why I posted it anyway. The box set is available from now until Sunday for $26.99, but you can get 10% off that with the coupon code of 10off.

This weeks shirt design at LTD Tee is actually a remix (more of a recolouring) of a previous shirt, though I think that the green suits this design. Am I the only one that looks at it and sees a washing machine?

This week you can get 25% off the $29.99 MSRP using the coupon code 25off, but last week the MSRP was $26.99, $24.99 before that, $24.99 before that, and $27.99 before that! I assume this jumping around with the price is reflective of the amount it costs to produce the tee that week, or perhaps to pay the artist, either way, I think I’d prefer for them to have a solid price, but whatever works for them.

Whaaa, a black shirt at LTD Tee?

by Andy on November 2, 2010

ltd tee t-shirt

LTD Tee are clearly stepping out of their comfort zone this week, taking the unusual step of printing a design on a shirt that ISN’T white, crrrazy!!!

Seriously though, it’s a really cool design, and looks a lot better on black than it would on white. The shirt is $26.99 and available from now until November 7th. This week also sees the triumphant return of a coupon code for HYA readers! You can get 20% off your purchase with the coupon code hideyourarms, yeah!

Wow, I am really late with the LTD Tee post this week, though it’s not like I’m obliged to write about them every week, I just like to try and give you guys plenty of time to see the post and get the tee before it’s gone forever. I usually think of LTD Tee’s designs as being fairly upbeat, but this week things seem to have taken a slightly more depressing turn with a design displaying some gothic-ish imagery. No coupon code for us this week either, that’s two weeks in a row now so perhaps that ship has sailed. Still, $24.99 for the tee, art print, cool box, and some LTD Tee stickers isn’t too bad. The tee is on sale until October 24th.

Sorry that I’m so late on this one gang, but you still have a few days to pick up LTD Tee‘s latest and great shirt. Usually I’d think that the print being in a square like that (which the edges of the design being cropped out) would be something of a cop out, but in this case I think it works pretty well. For the first time ever (EVER!) it would appear that LTD Tee aren’t offering HYA readers a coupon code, which is a bit of a downer, but $24.99 for the tee, art print, and cool box is still a pretty good deal.

LEGS by Lady Love at LTD Tee this week only

by Andy on September 27, 2010

ltd tee legs

It’s fair to say that this week LTD Tee are offering us a rather abstract design… but I like it, and I really like that colourway. You might notice that the box the tee comes in is the same as last week, so I think that they may have abandoned the presumably-costly “shirt art on a box” that entertained us over the past few months. It’s a little unfortunate since the custom box art was something that no one else was doing, but if having the same box each week (and at least it is still a really cool looking box) makes the business more viable then I don’t think it’s much of an issue.

The regular price of the box set (tee, art print, sticker pack, box) seems to have gone up by a dollar, to $27.99, but to offset that increase the HYA discount has jumped up as well, you can get 20% off by using the discount code hideyourarms. The tee is on sale from now until October 4th.

ltd tee t-shirt

I really like this shirt, it’s a good style and the colourway is one of my favourites, but what realy caught my eye with this LTD Tee release was the box, I know it’s only thumbnail sized in this photo, but hot-damn it looks cool! As ever, the RRP is $26.99 (including the tee, art print, custom box, and some stickers), but you can get 10% off with the coupon code hideyourarms, and the t-shirt is on sale from now until September 26th.

Hunter S. Thompson T-shirt at LTD Tee

by Andy on September 8, 2010

hunter s thompson t-shirt

When I stayed in Las Vegas last year, being both cheap and wanting to recreate that road trip sense of adventure I avoided the ‘nice’ and ‘clean’ hotels of the strip and booked Circus Circus (after 3 months without earning any money, you may have done the same) because that’s where Hunter S. Thompson stayed, and I thought that it’s old-time Vegas style would be kind of cool. I was wrong, and I won’t take hotel recommedations from a high novelist ever again. I think the worst part of Circus Circus was that one day the hallway smelled okay, and the next it smelled of urine, and continued to for a couple of days. Oh, and someone stole the cap off the gas tank of our rental car, and the windows were filthy, and there was a pube on my pillow every night even though I removed it each day (I would have preferred a mint. I will say this though, their key-cards look cool, and it was cheap enough that we could splurge on some decent vodka and a proper trip around the Grand Canyon, which makes it all worth while.

Buy the tee, which is cool enough that I should have probably talked about it instead of urine-soaked hallways, at LTD Tee for $26.99 (it comes with the signed art print, sticker pack and custom box, remember), or save yourself 20% with the coupon code hideyourarms. The tee is on sale from now until September 12th (Sunday).

What if the Vigrin Mary was hot?

by Andy on September 1, 2010

saint mary ltd tee t-shirt by adam jackson

Well, that certainly was an attention grabbing title, wasn’t it?

If you think about it, the Virgin Mary (Saint Mary as she’s described here) probably would have been hot, if she existed, which of course I don’t beleive she did as an atheist, but let’s say she did exist, she’s going to be the Mother of the son of God, that’s a pretty lofty title, so God is hardly going to pick an ugly lady, he’s a smart guy afterall!

This box set is available for presale at from August 30th until September 5th. MSRP is $26.99 and our shirts come in both men’s and women’s sizes. Your readers can also use discount code “hideyourarms” to save 20% off their entire order!

Even though I’m still far too insecure to wear that much pink on a t-shirt, I really like this tee and it’s nice to see J3concepts with a slight departure from his usual style, the man has range!

J3concepts is one of those designers that I just naturally trust, so even though I have no clue what this design is meant to mean, I like it, and not just because it looks wearable on face value. This is the second week of Jared’s month-long takeover of LTD Tee, and I think it’s going swimmingly (which reminds me, I need to go swimming). You can get 15% off the regular $26.99 price with the coupon code hideyourarms, this code will apparently last until 8/15 (when they stop selling this design) but since they’ve opened they’ve given me a ‘new’ code of hideyourarms every week so I think we can look at it as being semi-permanent for whatever it is they’re selling at that time. Of course, as usual, you will be getting the tee, art print, stickers, and custom box with this design on it in your pacakage.

j3concepts t-shirt for ltd tee

Now this, this I like, one of my favourite artists dropping a new design every week at an up-and-coming tee company that is currently getting a lot of love around the blogosphere. J3concepts is going to be the featured artist all month long at LTD Tee, with a new limited edition shirt/print/package being available each week. from what I can tell all the shirts are going to be revolving around the concepts of ‘power’ and ‘corruption’ and how if those concepts were a venn diagram there would be an unfortunately lage overlap between the two. Luckily, HYA has a litte bit of power (let’s not think about the corruption), so if you use the coupon code hideyourarms you can get 15% off the regular price of $26.99 up until August 8th, and they stop selling the tee then anyway (though it’s entirely likely there will be a new code for us next week).

JR Goldberg t-shirt for LTD Tee

Naturally, as a big fan of Blade Runner, my interest was piqued when I saw the ‘electric dream’ part of the t-shirt name in the weekly e-mail from LTD Tee. I was actually a little bit disappointed when the tee turned out to be not related to the sci-fi masterpiece, but that’s a little silly because it’s actually a really nice tee, based upon the idea that whilst bunnies may look cute and fuzzy and afraid of pretty much anything, when they sleep there’s a dark, murderous side to them. As is often the case with LTD Tee’s designers, I haven’t heard of JR Goldberg before, but I’ll keep an eye out for her in the future.

The tee is on sale from now until August 1st, and you can get 20% off the usual price of $24.99 (which includes the t-shirt, print, stckers, and custom box) by using the coupon code bunnymonsters.
