7 New Shirts from Waterloo

Argentina’s finest have released seven fresh designs that keep up their tradition of paying homage to some of their favourite movies and bands. My particular favourite from this crop of tees is “The Dark Side Of Oz” which is based upon the urban legend that Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon matches up with The Wizard of Oz at certain points, I’ve never put them together myself, but I’d presume that you need to have taken a lot of drugs to see/hear it.

I guess I could put ironic air-quotes around everything that Wrongwroks release since the vast majority of their work is based upon pop culture mashups, but in this case its because some of the designs have already been released in different colourways. Even though the designs aren’t particularly new the photos look pretty great.

If someone told me that X-Large were teaming up with Disney to produce a tee I’d have thought that someone was trying to sell me knock off gear in one of Hong Kong’s night markets, but no, this limited edition tee is right there on the X Large store, and the design is a pretty cool mashup of both brands too.

Johnny Cupcakes Bat-inspired designs

Johnny Cupcakes, never one to miss a trick, sent out a newsletter pointing out that if you want to be the coolest kid waiting in line for The Dark Knight then the above tees may well be what you’re after. I think that these designs were released last month with the new line.If you’re after a bit more Dark Knight japery, check out the avatar of pretty much anyone over at Emptees, they’ve all gone Joker crazy!

I don’t think that Wrongwroks ever take a day off (despite facts!), they/he put out designs at a rate far beyond what you’d expect of a brand their size. You can expect more pop culture mashup madness if you click through for a couple more pics from the collection.Wrongwroks

Totally freakin’ sweet idea, totally freakin’ sweet t-shirt. Although… if I were to do this myself, I’d actually cut the black t-shirt (with scissors, not visual trickery) and then place part of a Superman tee underneath it. Actually, I own a superman t-shirt (with a correctly sized logo, no small logo crap for me), I might pick up a cheap black tee over the weekend and give this a go.Costiness=€26 Link [via Shirtspotting]

Red Heart Dorabob by Wrongwroks

She’s no uggo, but she’s no Nat either!

To go along with the last few releases from Wrongwroks that I’ve blogged about, here is the third design to go in the first part of their summer collection. It features their dorabob character reimagined as a heart, so I guess this tee is Spongebob x Doraemon x a heart. I guess that they’re sticking with Zoe as the model for the time being, I wonder if Nat will ever be coming back? All the new tees and new hats are available in their store.

R2D2/Star Wars x Haynes Maunual mashup tee

I’m not sure how well this one will translate since I get the feeling that Haynes manuals might only be a British thing. For the uninitiated, Haynes produce manuals for lots of different cars (pretty much anything with an engine in it) so that people can do jobs on there cars that would otherwise have required a potentially costly trip to the local garage. I’ve got one for my little red beast (it looks just like this one, except a bit more battered and bruised), and it has helped me identify problems with it a few times. I really like the idea of Haynes mashup tees, they’re ripe for parody and famous robots or spaceships from science fiction provide decent fodder for them, as this R2D2 design attests.

Dorabob Zip Up by Wrongwroks

Wrongwroks Dorabob Hoodie

I actually picked up a couple of Doraemon money banks on a Hong Kong night market, so I feel slightly more justified in posting this Doraemon x Spongebob character mashup hoodie than I usually would when I dip my toes into the bright and shiny waters of anime.

Wrongwroks themselves describe this as “the best zipup we have done so far,” something which they seem to attribute to the fact that there are more than 30,000 stitches on the Dorabob. I don’t know stitching all that well, but that sounds like a lot to me!This is a light American Apparel fleece, so it should be perfect for those not-too-hot not-too-cold Spring evenings that should be arriving any day now (snow? it’s nearly April!). Presumably this is also a rather limited edition piece, since most things Wrongwroks are, and this one is only being stocked in their webstore, and none of their myriad of retailers.

I don’t know if this is an officially licensed product (after being in Hong Kong, I’m skeptical of all Hello Kitty merchandise’s authenticity), but judging by the amount of kitten cuteness associated with Public Library from a quick Google search I’d be willing to accept them as legit.

It’s a funny design, the red bow on the corner is such a cute touch, although it would be nice if they’d actually used a white t-shirt since the Chanel No 5 perfume box is white (if I remember all of those birthday presents for my mother correctly).
