Thread Confessions: Thanks For Reading!

by Carlos J. Morales on August 4, 2013

When I first started collecting t-shirts, I was young trying to understand life as a sophomore in high school. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be involved with or writing for a website like Hide Your Arms. Andy is a true class act and I am honored to be on the roster of such talented writers. There is nothing more exciting than helping indie brands get the spotlight they deserve. As a token of gratitude, I have installed a permanent discount code for Hide Your Arms readers - HYA gets you 25% off any collaboration in the Oven Fresh Dreams store.  For those of you who do not know, I am a barista and baker by trade – Oven Fresh Dreams is my online collective that intertwines my lifestyle with the stories of all the creative people I encounter.

“When I started baking (before I truly knew what I was doing), I was influenced by many creative types. This list includes Johnny “Cupcakes” Earle, Benny Gold, Mike Giant, Freegums, and a handful of other wonderful people. The artistic vision behind these artists and business owners inspire me to take O.F.D to unreachable heights. Keeping that in mind, I want to showcase the talents of the people I encounter in my journey by teaming up and releasing a series of limited collaborations. Now known as The Collaborate & Dream Series – the series focuses on printable mediums; t-shirts, posters, prints, and zines with the hopes of elevating the exposure of the artists I work with. There is nothing more important to me than helping artists tell their stories and share their gift with the world.”

Thank you all for being amazing. I hope to review more brands for Hide Your Arms for months to come and can not wait for you to read!

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

by Margin London on January 26, 2013

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

Not tees, we know, but you can be wearing the best looking t-shirt and let your outfit down with a bland or ugly bag.

Chances are that, if you’re reading HideYourArms, you care about your printed tees and what you wear so, like a hair-flicking starlet, you deserve a decent printed bag (because you’re worth it).

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

American brand Sprayground is innovating baggage with their distinctive art-inspired range. With backpacks, weekenders, and iPad sleeves, all available in a range of great designs, Sprayground bags feature dripping gold paint, camo sharks, piles of cash, and many more unique prints, including a collaboration with Mishka.

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

Designer David Ben David, aka DBD, grew up in Miami painting, skating, surfing, and always on the go, packing his whole life in his backpack but all he could find were bags of the same old solid colors and shapes so had to create his own brand.

With stores as diverse as Nordstrom, Digital Gravel, Patricia Field, and Kitson carrying the range in America, and spotted on numerous artists including Rihanna, the bags have wide appeal, from streetwear stores to fashion boutiques.

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

Sprayground bags are made from durable polyester fabric and feature a sleek construction with hidden features, such as velour laptop, tablet and sunglasses compartments, ergonomic padded back support, and stash pockets.

Sprayground are reaching out to potential stockists across the pond when they make their European tradeshow debut exclusively at Margin, the independent trade show exhibition in London for new brands.

Sprayground Bags at Margin London

Renowned amongst key buyers and press as the launchpad for new brands, Margin has been providing an affordable platform for new brands since 2002 and will be the only trade exhibition across Europe to see the range of bags in person.

Since the exhibitions first started back in 2002, Margin can lay claim to providing the UK launching point of overseas brands such as Upper Playground, Diamond Supply Co, Stereo Sound Agency, Double Goose, Loreak Mendian, Syndrome, Nooka, Mimobots, Qwstion, Hixsept (now Etudes Studio), and many others, who all made their European or UK trade debuts at Margin, which celebrated 10 years of exhibitions in 2012.

Sprayground will be exhibiting at Margin in February 2013 which takes place on the 10th & 11th, and you can find them on Facebook here.

mishka spring 2012

As usual with Mishka about half of the collection goes a little bit too far for my taste in terms of the streetwear and I like the other half, but I can’t like everything so that’s fine with me.

T-shirt News for February 16th

by Andy on February 16, 2012

burger t-shirt

I love burgers and I approve this message at TeeFury.

One of the more subtle Star Wars t-shirts at Shirt.Woot today.

I don’t think this is an original Doctor Who concept at RIPT, but it certainly is well executed.

Victorian profanity makes for an entertaining shirt at Qwertee.

A slightly abstract Mario design at Shirt Punch, very wearable though.

The Yetee have a Mega Man x Evil Dead/Army of Darkenss t-shirt.

I’ve always thought that there are surprisingly few Star Trek designs out there, OtherTees are trying to redress the balance.

What’s the deal with all the He-Man designs at the moment? This one is from Tee Minus24

24tee have a shirt for Frank Zappa fans.

I can’t call myself a fan of today’s shirt at DBH.

A Better Tomorrow have an E.T. shirt as their latest winner.

ThinkGeek are selling random shirts for as low as $5.99.

Mishka have released a lookbook teaser video for their Spring 2012 collection.

T-shirt News for January 31st

by Andy on January 31, 2012

cookie monster t-shirt

Again with the Muppets at TeeFury!

Not for me at Shirt.Woot today, but there’s nothing wrong with it.

Not sure if I’d wear this shirt just because it’s on white, but I certainly to like this Walking Dead design at RIPT.

Daily Tees & News for December 13th

by Andy on December 13, 2011

my little pony pokemon t-shirt

I don’t really understand the crossover between My Little Pony and Pokemon, but I’m sure some of you will.

Having never watched Venture Bros I’m not particularly enamored with today’s shirt at RIPT.

Nice 8-bit tee at Shirt.Woot today.

Daily Tee & News Roundup for November 23rd

by Andy on November 23, 2011

star trek t-shirt

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s amazing that there aren’t more Star Trek t-shirts around. $10 today at TeeFury.

I like the name of this shirt, ‘Vinyl Frontier,’ almost as much as I like the design. $10 today at Tilteed.

Very nice Doctor Who t-shirt from Nowhere Bad today.

I’m not sure if this shirt at Stupidhurts.us is a Deadmau5 reference or not, but I like it.

Not my favourite Shirt.Woot design ever but it definitely fits with their style.

I’m fairly sure there are a lot of people that would like this RIPT version of Battlestar Battleship to be a real thing.

Awesome shirt at The Yetee today, who would have thought that “Star Wars x crappy Christmas sweaters” would be such a good concept for a design?

And here I was thinking that all the “people whose names are also a state” had been done, well done 24tee.

TeeRaiders are dropping a Firefly design today.

Loviu really liked The Dark Knight, presumably.

Catch of the Day Tee provide us with our second Doctor Who shirt for Wednesday.

Shirt Punch seem to be the only company that have realised The Muppets are really popular at the moment.

Very pretty design from DBH today.

Let me remind you that Rigu is a thing I launched last week and it would be brilliant if you could check it out.

Glennz has released a desktop calendar for 2012 featuring some of his favourite designs.

80sTees satisfy my thirst for Seinfeld t-shirts with this George Costanza ‘Professional Hand Model’ tee. for $22.

Monsieur Steve is offering 20% off in his store today only with the coupon code onlytoday, though you do have to spend €70 to qualify for the saving.

PLNDR have up to 55% off goods from Mishka NYC.

A few months back on I Am The Trend Monique from Antisparkle featured “3 Affordable and Creative Branded Packaging Ideas” that I’m sure store owners will want to take a look at.

I didn’t mean for this to turn into a daily roundup for store owner resources, but I’ve been finding some good stuff recently, here’s “Five Copywriting Errors That Can Ruin A Company’s Website” from Smashing Magazine.

Mashable have 7 Tips to Make Your Blog Stickier. A lot of shirt brands have a blog that this info can apply to, but it’s important to note that a lot of the tips apply to non-blog content too.

Kissmetrics have a super guide to marketing using Twitter, and also a post with a guy claiming to have a 2% bounce rate which if you know your bounce rates you know is astoundingly low.

I Am The Trend’s Black Friday List is up and it has more than 80 brands on it, crazy! My initial list will be up in a few hours.

mishka NYC fall 2011

I’m sure that Mishka got a great photographer to do their lookbook, but this is one of those rare cases where I think that the clothes may have looked better without people wearing them, perhaps I don’t understand the attitude that someone needs to have to be a Mishka model.

mishka nyc sale

This sale applies to everything in the Mishka NYC store that isn’t from the latest collection (Summer 2011), but you can use the coupon code MOPSTER to get 20% off that collection anyway, so no matter what you want in store you can get a saving one way or another.

mishka spring line

This is yet another post that is well past it’s sell by date, but fortunately for us t-shirts aren’t milk so they don’t go rotten that quickly. You may have noticed I’m currently posting a new article every two hours, I’m trying to clear the backlog, but it is a huge backlog, the site probably won’t get more visitors because I’m posting more frequently, but I hate letting people down when they e-mail in. Hopefully it won’t be information overload for you all. Also, with more posts than usual on the site, hopefully that will mean more stuff you like and will share around, p-p-p-please!

Like I said, this is old news, so if you’re a Mishka NYC fan you’ll already be well aware that both half s of their Spring drop have now been released, but if you are saying to yourself “who the hell are Mishka NYC and why should I give a damn?” Then click through and check out the gallery because I assure you that you won’t leave disappointed.

mishka sale

Color us giving, but thanks to the success of our two price reductions over the past two weeks we present a 50% off sale. We’re talking half off on nearly every damn thing (minus the calendars and latest goodies). You really have no excuses this time around to not get what you want because it’s half price.

No word on how long the Mishka sale is going to last, so if you’ve got your eye on something buy it sooner than later.

Pretty much says it all right? I know I’m a little late for those of you that would want to get 50% off instore, but I don’t think any bagain is worth being at the store at 6am for, shouldn’t all y’all have turkey hangovers anyway?

842bdf25c65601f870737177d32dbf4d

Mishka NYC have dropped their new Spring line, and it’s pretty darned cool.

Something else that’s cool is that Mishka have gone and got themselves a pop up store right here in Philly at Ubiq. It’s two and a half blocks from my apartment, and along my walk to the office, so it’s fair to say that I’ll pop in at some point to give you a report. Philly and streetwear media were giving the shop opening party a lot of digital column inches last week, but no one seems to have thought about posting some photos from of the space yet, so maybe I’ll be able to stake a claim on a world exclusive if I get there soon and snap a few pics.

Still, you don’t need to be in Philly to get your Mishka fix, the whole lot is available online. Oh, and I guess hardcore HYA stalkers now have a radius in which you know I live, so, good luck finding me!

Lower Colwith Force

[Just a little something to calm you down on this crazy shopping day]

I think that pretty much every e-mail I’ve received for the past few days has involved some kind of coupon or deal or percentage, and I’ve tried to cover each one in a post, but there’s just too many, so here’s a bumper sized post that has a looooad (15, to be precise) of deals in it.

1. Mimoco

——————————-

2. 50% off at Digital Gravel until Monday.

——————————-

3. 40% off at Local Celebrity by using the coupon code BLACKISBEAUTIFUL, valid until Sunday.

——————————–

4. 50% off all tees at Beandip Clothing, no coupon needed, not sure if this one goes on all weekend, so you don’t have too long to get in on the action.

——————————–

5. Even though they’re British, Urban Retro are getting into the coupon code madness, use code XMAS25 to get 25% off your order this weekend.

——————————–

6. There seems to be a bit of small print to this one (as you can see at the bottom of the image), but 30% is still a good deal, especially when you can knock that off items which are already on sale. Also, WEGOBBLE is a pretty cute coupon code, well done Tobi.

——————————–

7. Fred Flare are offering free shipping this weekend (which is a $7.95 value) by using the coupon code MO, sure, it’s not the biggest deal on the list, but at least you can’t complain about the shipping prices!

——————————–

8. You’ll have to be quick to catch this one at Random Shirts:

Now that you’re rolling out of bed and trying to recover from that turkey coma, it’s time to do some serious shopping. Today is the day you’ve been waiting for your entire life! Randomshirts.com….buy 3 shirts…get 2 free. Go, now. You won’t regret it. Remember …every time you buy 3 shirts you get 2 for free ALL day. That means if you buy 6 you’ll get 4 free, if you buy 9 you’ll get 6 free..and so on. We are confident that you can get all your holiday shopping done for the rest of your life on this one day. Simply add all your shirts to the cart to see the discount!

——————————–

9. Get 30% off your order at 80s Purple by using the coupon code black08, offer valid until Monday.

——————————–

10. There’s 30-60% off selected items this weekend at Mishka NYC, and you can get another 10% off your order (on top of the sale savings) by using the discount code BLACKFRIDAY.

——————————–

11. Sure The Cotton Factory‘s flyer isn’t the flashiest but it gets the job done! Use coupon code BLITZKRIEG from now until Monday for 15% off your order.

——————————–

12. Split Reason are offering a healthy 20% off everything by using the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY.

——————————–

13. Nukod are doing something for Franco-American relations and are getting involved with the discount fun.

Orders over 60 Euros get 30% OFF > use discount code NUKOD30 at checkout
Orders over 100 Euros get 40% OFF > use discount code NUKOD40 at checkout

—————————–

14. Buy two or more tees at Walkie Talkie tees and you’ll be eligible for free shipping!

——————————–

16. There’s 20% off at Mediocore Clothing until Sunday, using the coupon code AWESOME, maybe you could put that saving towards the tee above that is currently on pre-order.

——————————–

17. Johnny Cupcake‘s offering for Black Friday this year is a 20% coupon code (SANTA) that you can use online, or print off the coupon above and take it into any of the JC bricks & mortar stores, which is a cool addition. Valid until December 2nd.

——————————–

18. This one isn’t just for Black Friday since it goes on until January 1st, but its a decent deal so I thought I’d include it. £3/$6 off each Bang Bang T-Shirts tee ain’t half bad, and remember, there’s free worldwide shipping on all orders.

—————————-

19. KosherHam.com have HYA up with a coupon code which lasts for more than the rest of the weekend, it lasts all the way to January 5th! Just use the code HYA and you’ll get 10% off your order.

——————————–

20. Paper Root Clothing have got up to 50% off their shirts and also a few $5 grab bags, no fancy schmancy coupon code necessary.

——————————–
21. You’ve only got 4 hours before this code goes dead. Hunty from MySoti got drunk, no, really, and he set up a coupon code for 20% off your order, it’s drunkenmadness and it will be gone soon, so if you’ve had your eye on something over there this is a good opportunity to pick it up.

——————————-

22. Get 20% off at Catastrophic Clothing with the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY… obviously. *Now running through to Monday.

——————————-

23. hoodie People have knocked 25% off their Upper Playground (mens here, womens here) range, I don’t know what the expiration date is on it, but the coupon code is upsalehoodies.

——————————–

24. Now that is a good deal to end this post on, Glarkware have got some very, very, cheap items, and you don’t even need a coupon code!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mishka NYCs Latest Lookbook

by Andy on November 12, 2008

Mishka NYC are one of those brands which I never really get too excited by, but they always impress me. Maybe they don’t excite me because they send out so many e-mail newsletters that I just get a bit bored of them. Still, their latest offerings look great.

Mishka NYC

*IMAGE REMOVED BECAUSE GOOGLE ADSENSE HATES BOOBS*

The folks over at Mishka NYC must have had a really tough time deciding on the theme for their latest lookbook, because they took the revolutionary step of taking pictures of attractive women wearing the clothes, and also a few pictures of them barely wearing the clothes. I guess that having women model the mens collection is somewhat original, but having the women so scantily clad means that you don’t really get to see much of the clothing, so it’s actually pretty hard to pass comment on the new range.

Click on through to this obviously NSFW lookbook if you know no one’s stood behind you. And all the items shown are available for sale in their store too.
