coffee t-shirts

I love this coffee cup character up at TeeFury today, it would be cool to see that as a vinyl toy.

Who doesn’t love a BLT? Well, I don’t since uncooked tomato weirds me out a bit (which in itself is odd since I will eat pretty much anything), the the rest of this design at Shirt.Woot is fine by me.

RIPT have a Dhalsim Street Fighter shirt up today, unfortunately the concept was done on Teefury last month and the commenters aren’t holding back on saying which they prefer.

zombies defeat pandas parody

Turns out I was backing the right horse all along, as the pandas have triumphed, trouncing the competition to win the Threadless election.

As far as election tees go, I was impressed by the selection Threadless offered, so many election year parody shirts age themselves by adding a date or something that might not necessarily make sense in more than a year, but by picking solid themes they’ve created some fun, attractive shirts that you’ll be able to wear after November.

(Zombie pic nabbed from here, original photo public domain… probably)

Pandas Dominating the Threadless Election!

by Andy on March 13, 2012

My spies within Threadless have passed me a document in a manilla envelope containing some interesting figures, a week after a blistering launch to the campaign (and a rousing speech from a handsome blogger), team Panda holds a lead over the competition.

I doubt that Hide Your Arms is responsible for that domination, but it’s good to know that the voting public out there are making the correct and obvious choice.

Vote panda!

threadless election t-shirts

I have been standing on the sidelines in this years election season, as a Brit you could say that is fair enough, I have no business meddling in the affairs of American politics, and I have to respect your process. Be that as it may, I can no longer hold my tongue regarding such an important issue, on what could be a pivotal day in US history, Super Tees Day.

Now, I know all the kids are into robots, zombies, vampires, and ninjas; yes, they are all truly awesome in their own unqiue ways, but there is of course a dark side to each and every one of those candidates.

Vampires may have strong and well thought out policies on blood donation, but they have lost their way in recent years, becoming soft, sparkly, not holding true to their beliefs, and becoming strangely besotted with Kristen Stewart. Can you really trust someone with that kind of record as a flip flopper?

Zombies aren’t much better, they only want one thing and that is to tear this country and your flesh apart, and we must halt this slow march to the White House before it has a chance to gather momentum.

Robots? You think that just because we created them they will do our bidding? Ask any parent and they will tell you that this is just not the case at all, and if it doesn’t work with teenagers why would it work with machines? Anyway, isn’t the real issue here who is behind the robots? Whose pulling the strings? Is it the vampires? I’m not saying it is but don’t you think it’s funny that no one else is asking these questions, no one is saying they aren’t true, no one has come out to say that the vampires have formed a coalition with robots and are manipulating them behind the scenes to overthrow the status quo in this country and fundamentally change the way that we go about our daily lives? But hey, I’m just one man, no need to listen to the crazy man connecting all these little things and seeing the bigger picture.

Let’s take a closer look at the ninjas… actually they’re pretty cool, they wear black and throw pointy stars at people. Still, I wouldn’t really want to be governed by someone that would kill me in my sleep, and I doubt you would either.

So where does this leave us? Trying to pick between the best of a bad situation? No. There’s a better choice and a better way for us all, someone that can lead this nation towards the light and make us great again.

Pandas. Pandas with milk mustaches. Pandas casually doing pull ups on a tree branch because that body doesn’t just take care of itself. Pandas sneezing and scaring their parents. Pandas doing yoga. There is literally nothing that a panda does that isn’t adorable, cute, hilarious, or inspiring.

Pandas have a strong defense policy that will protect our borders, allow them to roam free and they are peaceful animals, but pen them in, prod them with a stick or invade their space and they will defend themselves, their family, and their country. Some say that the highly intelligent panda is elitist, accusing him of preferring arugula to the traditional bamboo, come on, just because a bear is educated and likes a peppery salad leaf does not make him elitist, it makes him an individual, and the right choice in this election, so go to the polls and vote panda.

Threadless are running a these special tees over the next month to try and make the long hard run to the polls in the US election a bit more fun, and I’m delighted that they asked HYA to be involved. I’ll be coming up with silly posts over the next few weeks, if you can give me any reasons why pandas are awesome and everything else sucks please do let me know in the comments.

So you love pandas & flamboyant face-paint power rocking. Then you and Speakeasy will get along just fine! Speakeasy donates %15 profit of each shirt to the good people over at Pandas International. If more Pandas listened to KISS, we’d probably have more Pandas.

Andy: Whenever I hear the term ‘pandamonium’ I’m reminded of the early Threadless design, but this shirt is pretty cool too.

T-shirt News for January 19th

by Andy on January 19, 2012

breaking bad t-shirt

I realised that this TeeFury shirt was about Breaking Bad, but having only seen a couple of episodes the Los Pollos Hermanos aspect of this shirt is lost on me.

I think that this might be my favourite design that Shirt.Woot have released.

Goonies-inspired t-shirt from RIPT today.

“The Marvelous commute to Wonderland” is up at Qwertee.

It’s Back To The Future vs Bill and Ted at Shirt Punch today.

Here’s another 24tee shirt that goes over my head.

I know that Community isn’t for everyone, but the paintball episode was truly fantastic, so I’m glad to get the reminder from TeeRadiers.

Two new shirts from DBH today (including one that is fighting SOPA that will only be available for a couple more days).

BustedTees have some wrestling pandas for $13.99 instead of $20 this week.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling ‘The Eternal Struggle’ again.

This error greeted me when I visited TeeBlitz this morning.

Adam has some advice over at TeeJunction on creating a t-shirt brand.

Save up to 20% on your order at Wrongwroks, providing you spend quite a lot.

Raygun Robyn is aiming for global domination, and to do that she’s going to offer free shipping to the first person from countries that haven’t yet made an order in her store.

Johnny Cupcakes shares a little story of how he put a plastic skull into a random customer’s order for a hat to try and add some mystery and magic to the online shopping process. It might give other store owners ideas about how they can make their shopping experience more interesting.

Obscure Printing are going to start offering a complete fulfillment service for brands (printing, packing, shipping, and stock holding). They’re also collaborating with a company called Judda distribution which will make brands available to 3000+ stores across Europe, which could be a great opportunity for a lot of brands. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.

Mila Kunis wore a vintage-styled Pepsi t-shirt, super-duper!

panda t-shirt

I’m going to be adding Loviu to the growing list of daily shirt companies that I blog about in the morning (provided I get up in time and nothing side tracks me). You can pick this shirt up for €12 today, and please click the image above to be sent to the Loviu store (yes, it’s an affiliate link, but it’s also a cool shirt, so everyone wins).

Two new shirts from LaFraise this week

lafraise yin yang t-shirt

Good work again by laFraise, that Panda shirt is just gorgeous, and they’ve achieved a rare feat by creating a beer shirt that isn’t utterly terrible.

A few new tees from Scared Panda

by Andy on November 9, 2010

scared panda t-shirts

Our buddies over at Scared Panda have dropped three new designs, two of which I could take or leave, and one that I really like. You can probably guess my favourite, Pillow Fight! (top right and bottom left of the picture), I just think it’s a really pretty design and like the large print, though unfortunately I prefer the girl’s colourway since I think the feathers need that contrast of a darker background colour. The logo tees (the ones with the shocked looking panda face) are pretty cool too. All the tees come in at $20 a pop, but since HYA-readers are special people you can get 10% off using the coupon HIDEYOURARMS, aren’t I nice to you guys?

Seems like Scared Panda have got their eco-credentials too, since “we print using inks that are lead free and phthalate free and all of our screen solutions are soy, citrus or mineral base.” I presume that means something to people that are smarter than me and actually understand the printing aspect of t-shirts.

pandycane limted edition t-shirts

It’s Pandycane’s anniversary (I’m guessing 2nd because it feels like they’ve been around for more than a year, and to celebrate they’re doing something quite unusual, opening a secret shop with two super-limited designs in it that you can only gain access to if you e-mail Pandycane owner, Tom. This promo was actually launched when I was away so quite a lot of the tees are already sold (the print runs were just 10 & 20) but there are still a few left so if you’d like access to the store you need to e-mail tom [at] pandycane [dot] com and he’ll give you the magic URL.

It’s definitely an interesting concept, and seems like it might be a good way for brands to ensure that super-limited items are more likely to go to real fans of the brand that would actually cherish a limited design.

Mount Rush-Paw T-shirt by Pandy Cane Clothing

by Andy on February 27, 2010

mount rushmore parody t-shirt

In a dream world, where pandas weren’t almost extinct, and actually ran the world, this is what Mount Rushmore would REALLY look like! honest!!

I really like this print, the size is nice and the single colour print really suits this kind of image. I give it two paws up!

Costiness=£15 Buy it at Pandy Cane

It’s exceptionally rare that I’ll post about a tee being reprinted, especially a Threadless one, but it’s almost universally accepted that this design is 110% badass, so I just had to mention it. Oh, and why’s it printed on American Apparel, I thought Threadless only used their own shirts now?

Costiness=$20 Available from Threadless

Pandy Cane make some sweet tees

by Andy on June 14, 2009

Pandy Cane is a British-based brand all about pandas and candy, which I do believe is one of the most niche-y of niches I’ve ever covered on HYA. The designs are pretty swee… sorry, cool, especially the one pictured which is obviously a play on the King Kong story. I’d like to see them following that kind of idea more, taking famous images and transplanting candy and pandas into them, not that there’s anything wrong with a simple panda + candy cane design.

Every order from Pandy Cane receives some extra goodies in their box along with the tee, like a CD/poster/stickers, which is always a little bonus, and, all UK orders qualify for free shipping. As if all of that wasn’t enough, how about a HYA exclusive coupon code? You’ll get 15% off anything in the store with the code hideyourarms. Awesome!

Is it just me or is this tee kind of depressing? I think it’s something to do with the style in which the pandas are drawn, there’s no way you could draw them like that and it be part of a joyous design, which is unusual because milkshakes (or whatever it is that’s in the cup) are usually the causes of such happy occasions. However, despite finding it a bit creepy, I still like it as a t-shirt.
