The guys behind Popdeck, the skateboard design competition, opened up Deckpeck a while ago. Deckpeck allowed people to sell their own board designs, and quite a few recognisable artists signed up and uploaded some great looking decks to their shops. A few days ago they expanded their product range, but its doesn’t include the usual gubbins that you’d expect from a print-on-demand company, there’s snowboards, longboards, skate wheels, t-shirts (of course), journals and Vans slip-on shoes. I think its really cool that Popdeck are making it easy for people to make custom versions of unusual items when I’d assume that in the past people’s only options would have probably been either very expensive or very DIY.

freetee Buy a skate deck, get a free laFraise t-shirt, I think I might love Popdeck!

Remember the Popdeck x LaFraise competition that I mentioned a while back? Well, it seems that things have taken on an exciting and unexpected twist!

If you purchase any deck from Popdeck (not just the winner from the laFraise competition) you’ll receive the Popcorn design that was one of the laFraise winners. That shirt costs €23 from the laFraise store, and its printed on an organic American Apparel tee, decks from Popdeck cost $40 (the $32 shipping cost to the UK is pretty high, but hey, a deck weighs a fair amount). I could do the rest of the math for you, but now matter how you plug the numbers into the equation your calculator is always going to read “hey, that’s a great deal!”

To get your free tee you first need to purchase the deck, then send an e-mail info@popdeck.com with your size. As you’d imagine, this deal is strictly whilst supplies last, so it might be a good idea to get on it sooner than later if you’re interested.

Damned good week of competition winners from LaFraise, wouldn’t you say?

In other Strawberry-based news, you can get €5 off any of the Popdeck x laFraise shirts by using the imaginative coupon code of POPDECK, and they’re continuing their summer sale on the last page of their shop by cutting the prices by a whopping 50%, which is a discount not to be sniffed at, if indeed to you sniff at a discount.

lafraisevspopdeck LaFraise x Popdeck tees released like lions from cages

Remember the LaFraise x Popdeck competition I mentioned back in May? Well, the skate deck has been available for a while (I thought it was, but can’t find it in the Popdeck shop at the moment), but its taken until now for the three t-shirt designs to become available.

Working from left to write in the picture, we have Afrobaby, Pop Corn, and Salaryman. Damn fine designs, each and every one.

Allmightys are impressing me more and more these days, and its releases like these that are part of the reason behind that. One of the other reasons is that they seem to really be focused on giving their artists a great deal. I’m not saying that other design competitions are doing that, but I actually believe them when they say that:

…every time you order you are also supporting the artist. All allmightys designers recieve commissions from sales and not only that but some tees also include donations to charities! At Allmightys, everybody wins!

Check out this blog post to get all the deets on these latest releases.

brc2 Popdeck x Black Rock Collective skate deck

I know this has little (pretty much nothing) to do with t-shirts but I thought it was worth a mention anyway. The Black Rock Collective (aka the Legion of Doom), who in the past have produced some incredible designs for Threadless and Design By Humans, and now they’ve put together another collaborative and multi-charactered design for Popdeck, the skateboard deck design competition. I hope I’m not shooting myself in the foot by posting this, since I’m wrestling with the prospect of paying $32 to have the $40 deck shipped to the UK, and I’m worried that it might sell out, so me promoting it shows just how much I like you guys, putting you ahead of my own selfish needs.Popdeck x Black Rock Collective Skate Deck (currently on pre-order, ships on the 22nd)

LaFraise x Popdeck Competition winner ’salary man’

I’m really, really impressed with the winners of the competition (click through on the link at the bottom to see the rest), but I think that the grand prize winner certainly deserving their 1st place finish. In fact, the field was so strong that LaFraise decided to award three extra designers with a €500 prize and a run of 250 shirts with their design on, although I don’t think any boards will be made up with the extra three designs.

One of the great things about J3concepts being the new blogger at LaFraise is that he makes some great illustrations to go with posts, just like this one that he’s done for the LaFraise x Popdeck competition. Here’s the details:

This time around the contest is with Popdeck and it will commence NOW!!!

If your design is choosen you’ll get one skateboard with your winning design, one tshirt with your design and 1500 Euros. Now, along with your loot, your winning skateboard design will be sold on Popdeck in a limited run of 20 and will be sold as a tshirt on laFraise in a limited run of 500.

Also the runner up (2nd place) will get their design custom printed on their very own skateboard (a one of a kind item).

Submit your design between May 5th - 19th to the “POPDECK” category.

If want to participate and sign up for this and you’re American, just put your country as UK for now (there’s no US option) and they’ll sort it later, as a few people were confused about that. More details can be found here.
