Everyone seems to be posting about
TorsoPants, a new tee site from T-Shirt Hell founder Sunshine Megatron (yes, that’s his legal name), and about how ‘dry’ it is. They’ve also got ads going on Gmail, again pointing out how dry it is. To be honest, I can take or leave the tees, they’re better than I would have expected, and there’s definitely a market for them, but they just aren’t my style.
Check out this page to see how you can get $8 off your order. Oh, and the links page is pretty funny.

Springleap is (yet) another design competition, excpet this one is from South Africa (I don’t think we’ve ever had an SA company on HYA before). You know the deal, tee designs get submitted, voted on (that starts April 1st on SL), and eventually winning designs are printed and sold (which should happen at SL in May).
The site design is pretty cool, and the prizes are decent (I’m a fan of designers being paid on a per-tee basis on top of a lump sum, even if it isn’t much per tee), and there is a focus upon community that isn’t seen in many other design competitions, but a design competition is only as strong as the talent in its community, so we’ll have to wait until April 1st to see what kind of design quality is available to be voted on.

This brand has far too many great designs for me to just give them a quicktees link, which is why I intend to come back to them at some point in the near future, but I thought I’d let those of you that are interested in movie/horror/zombie/sci-fi tees have a look at them now rather than waiting for me to feature an individual tee. Cool vector art on the site too.

If you’re after some 100% organic clothing, Artifex might be the people for you. Prices are surprisingly low considering that quite a lot of companies see the organic label as a sign to crank up the prices, bravo to you Artifex!

A guy called Andy e-mailed me (its a pretty common name, but it always feels a bit weird when that happens) to let me know about his new tee company, Rethink Clothing. Since everyone has an angle nowadays, here’s Andy’s; “The premise is I only sell shirts designed by college kids and in return throw them some of the profits.” Neato my same-name-brother, I can dig it!
Andy wrote up a quick blurb for us too, clearly letting people know about how short the quicktee posts are encourages them to do my work for me:
“ReThink clothing started out in late 2007 after I was stressed during
school and looking for something that would lighten my spirits.
Rethink is really about breaking away and making designs that appeal
to a wide range of buyers. We go from artsy to robots so the style is
varied. The real main thing though is that the art comes from only
college kids. I believe college kids spend too much money on clothes
that they see no profit from. Rethink switches it up gives college
kids a chance to make their own style of clothes and see some profit
in return. This is the first line out and I hope to add at least one
more girl shirt and one more guy’s shirt in the next month.”
