A blog about hoodies & t-shirts, with news from the independent clothing world

Here’s a surprising change in direction, RandomShirts, whose back catalogue largely consists of single-colour pun-based tees, have released their summer line, and there’s not a pun amongst the bunch!

In fact, they seem to have gone for a self-motivation theme, but I would suspect that its ironic self-motivation, so that’s alright. When I look at the designs, I can’t help but be reminded of Vintage Vantage, is anyone else getting that feeling? I guess that’s just because they’re both retro-styled, and the way that the characters look like they’re straight out of a 70s school textbook.

In another change for RandomShirts, the new designs are being printed on American Apparel tees.

This is most definitely the best shirt I’ve seen in my entire life… and I think that you would look soooooo great wearing it!

You know what’s hard to write on the internet? Sarcasm. Which is unfortunate, since almost everything said in blog comments and on forums is said sarcastically. It might just be me, I dunno, but whenever I write something sarcastic it just makes me sound mean, so I have to preface it with *The is sarcasm*, which takes the sting out of the blow somewhat.

Still, even if text t-shirts tend to get the cold shoulder in HYA, I like this one, it raised a smile, and can you really put a price on happiness? Oh, sorry, apparently you can, $16.95… I think I’ll stick with depression, thanks.

It isn’t just Threadless that can sell their products at the $10 mark, Randomshirts have got in on the act as well, actually this sale/clearance started first (and even have a few things cheaper than that), but that’s neither here nor there.

I’m not usually too into vintage style t-shirts, because no one would ever believe that I worked at Randy’s Truck Stop in 1973, and I’m not a liar, so I tend not to wear that kind of thing. As ever, I’m off topic, it’s a good irreverent design, I especially like the Elvis reference and the stars, it feels like Japanese people trying to copy American 70s culture, even though I know that it’s Americans copying Japanese people copying American culture. Genius.

If you’re worried about the quality, considering how low low prices at RS, their shirts hoodies and long sleeves are printed on Hanes, Fruit of the Loom or American Apparel (check the FAQ for more information).
