Post image for “Space Suit Advert” retro t-shirt by Alfitude

Apparently this is a genuine advert for a space suit, it really was a simpler time.

vampire t-shirt

I used to religiously watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer every Friday night (when episodes were premiered in the UK). It’s a good thing that was before we had a reliable internet connection and I was online all the time because I’m sure I would have been knee deep in spoilers every week since we Brits used to have a long wait for shows to make it across the pond.

$10 today only at TeeFury

WarGames t-shirt

I guess WarGames shirts are like London buses, you wait ages for one to arrive (at RIPT last week) and then another arrives.

Shirt $12 today at Nowhere Bad.

the dude abides big lebowski t-shirt

I’m fairly sure that I’ve posted this t-shirt before, but I think it’s worth looking at again, especially with HYAs growth over recent months.

mortal kombat t-shirt 8-bit retro

I am such a sucker for these 8-bit style designs, I love the immediate recognition you get from them even though you’re looking at such a low resolution image.

star wars asteroids t-shirt

Don’t even pretend that this t-shirt doesn’t get you all hot and bothered!

To be honest, when I first looked at it I just thought that it was an Asteroids tee, which in itself would be pretty cool, but then I noticed the Millennium Falcon, and this shirt jumped up a few notches on my nerd-o-meter.

moon girl t-shirt

I really like the idea of comic book covers (real or fake) being put onto a tee, and this one has got the style spot on, and the one-colour print helps give it a bit of a retro look.

mario kuribo's shoe t-shirt

I was looking at this tee thinking to myself “why do I know this tee, and why do I know what is that’s been exploded in the diagram?” after a few minutes it struck me, Coty had written about this tee, and the rare Mario Bros. power-up item it represents. If you knew that just by looking at it, bravo Sir (or madam, but probably Sir), and if not don’t worry, that’s perfectly normal. Very cool looking tee though, what is it about technical diagram tees that make me post them every time I see one?

A NES style t-shirt from Dr. Hazmat

by Andy on November 10, 2010

super doctor hazmat t-shirt

Underneath the TV in my office where I’m writing this blog post there is a NES, an original one, it must be about 20 years old and plays just like the day my parents bought it, how’s that for build quality?

To be honest I don’t play on it much/at all, I only got it out because I was going to put some games on eBay, but they just have too much charm for me to part with them, I’m not really into retro games, but I do have a certain amount of nostalgia for that era, and I think that has something to do with why I like this shirt from Doctor Hazmat. If I remember correctly this shirt (designed by Derek Deal) is an homage of the original Mario game that launched with the NES, and mighty fine it looks too.

The Chop Shop 80s Pop Culture Reference T-shirt

by Andy on September 17, 2010

80s t-shirt

I’m pretty sure that in my last Chop Shop post I said I was getting a bit bored of their silhouette tees since they were flogging a dead horse. Well, perhaps not a dead horse, but one that was slowing down somewhat. This latest tee appears to have revied the style, adding in a new style, new shapes, and more colours. I like it.

Sea of Atlas by CXXVI

sea of atlas t-shirt by cxxvi

It’s not particularly cheap at $36, but you could certainly go out and spend a lot more on a lot worse. It;s a simple tee, but it’s got everything going for it, if I was walking down the street and saw someone wearing this I’d think to myself “that dude is cool.”

zen amiga t-shirt

I wish that Glennz was as popular as Threadless (though for one guy that might a little too much power in the tee world), because then people would make cakes out of all this designs like they do with Threadcakes, because this design would me a cool looking cake. What an odd thing for me to think of, I should probalby stop blogging and go eat something… possibly cake-based.

pac man t-shirt

Just yesterday I was talking about how much I enjoyed Glennz “Smile” t-shirt because it represented a bit more meaningful and thoughtful work (at least by my interpretation), but the man is also pretty damn good at creating designs that make you happy, nostalgic, and take a sideways look at things. I don’t want Glennz fighting against the man, I want him reminding me of games from the 80s (that my parents played more than me, they’d play Pac Man on our Acorn A2000 until 2am sometimes, I liked that).

minimalist street fighter t-shirt

I like this, it feels as if someone inputted Ryu and Ken into the iPhone Pantone app and this is what spilled out. Actually, in my experience, the Pantone palette result wouldn’t look much like the reality, but it’s still a cool app. Solid concept, well executed, good work AshRB, and good work to Coty for finding it.

space invader star wars t-shirt

Want it, NOW. You’d think that people would run out of ways to make really cool space invaders and Star Wars t-shirts. Maybe they have and that’s why we’re now seeing mashups of the two?

scary monster and creepy tees

Okay, neither of these tees are really scary or creepy (though the ‘creepy’ tee has potential depending on who is wearing it), but I am a man who loves a sensationalist headline. Of the two, I prefer scary monster, I really like the colourway that Mini Cassette picked out for this design, really picks up the retro feel that I presume they were going for. Scary Monster is $23, and Creepy is $22, enjoy!

USA Soccer 1950 T-shirt by Two Eight Nine

Why must I keep punishing myself in this way? Because, let’s be honest, the USA’s football team has a pretty sweet design for their jersey, they had it on Sautrday night, and they had it in 1950 too.
