Union Jack Skull t-shirt

With Manchester being my nearest major city I have a certain affinity for t-shirt brands for the area, so whilst the designs at Oblivion tend to be a bit darker oriented than I usually post, I do quite like them, and I can appreciate the quality of the artwork, and the rather unusual pricing point of £16.97 for the three latest designs (pictured above) they’re definitely acceptably priced for the UK market. Here’s what Paul, Oblivion’s owner, said this of the brand:

My aim as a company is to give people a quality t-shirt with a great print at an affordable price, I’ve designed a lot of things throughout my life with a passion for it, I hope this comes across on the shirts. The company is based in the UK (Manchester) and I hope to grow the company more in the following years :)

Seems like a nice guy, visit his site.

itchy & scratchy simpsons t-shirt

It’s at time like this that I feel I must reiterate myself, why aren’t there loads of Simpsons t-shirts out there?

Considering that it is one of the most popular TV shows of all time it doesn’t seem to get all that much love from the t-shirt world, anyone got a good idea as to why that might be?

I love this design, but that’s hardly surprising since most designs Iain Macarthur touches are gold.

T-shirt news for March 21st

Doctor Who t-shirt

Thankfully the comments over at TeeFury explained to me that this is something to so with Doctor Who, the Tardis at the top should have been a bit of a clue as well though.

This Star Wars based design at Shirt.Woot is one of my favourites from them for quite some time.

Spiderman gets some attention at RIPT.

Doctor Who turns up at Qwertee.

I like this Shirt Punch design so much I might actually buy it, Mars U straight from the Futurama universe.

The nerd hive arrives at Stupidhurts.us.

That is one depressing Pluto t-shirt at 24tee (apparently it has something to do with 4chan).

Wow, very nice skull shirt from DBH today.

Made in the Now take a look at a painting that people used to think was a Van Gogh knockoff that it turns out is the real deal.

Dead Head gets another run out at Tilteed.

VNM added some patches to their store.

Great interview with Jake Nickell of Threadless about how they are dealing with partnerships. It’s fascinating to hear about how these things really work and so refreshing to hear honesty and openness from a company of their size.

RIPT have added five free shirts to the raffle for the Boston Tee Party.

TeeMadness2012 is open for voting now.

Here’s a cat wearing a t-shirt.

This Led Zeppelin t-shirt is up for $14,000 on eBay. Vintage tees scare me a bit, so much money in so little cotton!

Something tells me this Chinese guy doesn’t know what’s written on his shirt, or he does, which could be more concerning.

You know you’ve got great friends when they make you a shirt to celebrate your vasectomy. Look at that grimace, he KNOWS that picture was going to end up getting spread around on the internet.

New Actual Pain has dropped at Street Casuals, those guys do have a lot of releases, don’t they?

Akomplice have released their Spring 2012 lookbook.

Spend $40+ at ThinkGeek and get $10 off with the coupon code SHATNER.

T-shirt news for March 8th

by Andy on March 8, 2012

arrested development t-shirt

Arrested Development makes an appearance at TeeFury today.

It’s a reprint day at RIPT with this Pokemon x Star Wars design.

Poirot makes an unexpected appearance at Qwertee.

Funny Portal t-shirt at Shirt.Woot.

Funny Skyrim t-shirt at Shirt Punch, nice style to it too, not sure whether I’d actually wear it though.

‘Vitruvian Prime’ makes an appearance at OtherTees.

Weird skull based design at Stupidhurts.us today.

I suspect we’ll be seeing quite a lot of these election tees this year, this Harry Potter take on the genre is pretty nice.

“I want you…. to” at 24tee.

I like the little splash of colour on this new tee at DBH.

This design at Made in the Now celebrates the Indian festival of Holi.

Tilteed have a study of turtles, and it’s adorable.

RockCandy have a Spring Sale going on with yp to 30% off.

TTG intverview Branded Baron and they have a giveaway for a couple of tees too.

TTG also report on the story of a girl walking into Tesco (the giant UK supermarket chain, £1 of every £8 spent in the UK is spent at Tescos) and finding her face on a sweatshirt in the clothing section. I like the way that in the photo she’s meant to look annoyed but you can tell she’s happy to be getting in the papers.

New shirts and restocks at Seventh.Ink

by Andy on February 22, 2012

knocked speechless t-shirt

I’m still trying to get through the backlog of e-mails I received whilst I was falling down the mountains in Italy, which is why despite this realease going live at Seventh.Ink almost two weeks ago I’m still regarding it as new, because if I haven’t seen it, it’s new to me.

The skull shirt is the most interesting release of course, with it being the only original art in the collection, the Lucky Brains shirt is a restock, and I do like those shirt colours for some fresh variations on their logo tee.

Fuscare bring us cool tees from France

by Andy on February 12, 2012

fuscare t-shirts

Fuscare got in touch a couple of weeks ago to say hello, and I was pretty impressed with what I saw when I took a look at their store. Their designs are pretty dark, and I’m pretty sure that I say that not being completely swayed by the amounts of eyeliner on their models in the lookbook, but not to the point where I think it would put people off the shirts that aren’t usually into that style. They’re all pretty wearable shirts, I can imagine them going with just about any look, and at 19€ a piece they’re reasonable by European standards.

cat skull t-shirt

Can you imagine if you walked into a house and there were this many cats… it would be terrifying. $10 at TeeFury today.

I know what you’re thinking, this is just yet another t-shirt about imaginary Pinata companies, and when with this pinata meme die? Well, at least this one at Shirt.Woot is based on the 1986 film ‘Three Amigos’.

The Muppets meet Futurama with this Hypnokermit t-shirt at RIPT today.

Daily News & Tee Roundup for November 21st

by Andy on November 21, 2011

warwick davis t-shirt

I’ve had a change of tack today and I’m putting Shirt Punch at the top of the roundup because today their designer is not by a normal t-shirt artist, it’s by sophisticated dwarf about town Warwick Davis of Star Wars (and currently ‘Life’s too Short’) fame. I know that his new show has gotten a lot of negative press for exploiting short people, but I don’t think he’d be in the show if he didn’t think it was right for him. Nice to see Philip Schofield in the sideart section!

I watched the first episode of The Walking Dead (season 2) at the weekend so I think this TeeFury shirt is pretty dang cool.

Qwertee, or at least someone, has sold this ‘Joy of Death’ shirt before, I’m sure of it.

Very sweet design by BootsBoots at Tilteed today, and whilst it isn’t new to the site, it is new to me.

Nowhere Bad are referencing Iocane Powder from the Princess Bride again.

Seems like this camera t-shirts from Stupidhurts.us provides yet another lovely opportunity to mention my new camera accessories site, Rigu.

Rare that you see Shakespeare quoted on a t-shirt, but Shirt.Woot have pulled it off.

It’s also rare to see RIPT re-using designs, but that is the case with this Tardis/Union Jack t-shirt.

The Yetee give some love to a pair of Ninja Turtles characters that don’t often get a look in when it comes to t-shirts.

I’ve never seen the Slap Bet episode of How I Met Your Mother, but it’s cool the way that they bring it in during later episodes, I like the way that HIMYM has a lot more callbacks than most shows. TeeMinus24.

Random shirts on sale at OtherTees for the next 4 days.

I don’t really understand what this Crane Jackson thing is all about at 24tee today. I’ve found a strange Facebook page that might be a real theatre, and that Crane Jackson was a real person, but I still don’t quite get it. The mystery is quite fun though.

Today at TeeRaiders they’re celebrating a show called Once Upon a Time that’s only been on the air for a month on ABC in the US, I can’t decide if that’s brilliant or terrible.

GraphicLab have a shirt this week that combines Nintendo’s famous Power Glove with Thanos from the Marvel universe.

Really cool design from Loviu today.

2nd design has been made available from Tshirt Contest, this one is all about how delicious meat is.

Not really my kind of shirt at DBH today.

Someone on Instructables has made a fun looking shirt with LEDs in it.

Wrongwroks will be releasing this hoodie today, I really like the contrast detail on the zip and hood.

Springleap have teamed up with Marmite for a design competition.

PLNDR have more ridiculous prices in their bargain bin today.

Get $25 off with the coupon code 25X8TN at 80s Purple when you spend $80 or more (and there’s free shipping if you spend $99 or more).

Sturban Clothing have started selling Quilted Jackets by SeventySeven.

This guy called Jack got in touch to let me know about his site, and whilst the tees aren’t really my style, I thought you guys might like his stuff, and he seems very likeable in spite of the odd choice of creating a website that is 300 pixels wide.

Chris Kawagiwa, who recently had a few designs printed over at Might Fine, sent me an e-mail that pointed me towards a concept & process video for one of his steampink Star Wars designs. It’s really cool to watch it come together from pen & paper to the finished tee.

RadCakes have released three new shirts that I don’t particularly care for, perhaps you do.

Daily Tees & News Roundup for November 1st

by Andy on November 1, 2011

Zelda t-shirt

Zelda shirt from TeeFury today, nice style and colourway.

Another old design from Tilteed, they don’t seem to have released anything new for a while, I’ll drop them an e-mail to ask what is up.

It’s quite hard to tell from the image above, but the skull in this Stupidhurts.us shirt is made of kisses, thus the name ‘Long Kiss Goodnight.’

This tee from Shirt.Woot is surprisingly Anglo-centric, I didn’t know Americans knew the Guy Fawkes story.

Great Gremlins shirt from RIPT today.

OtherTees have a Portal gun sketch up for the next few days.

As someone who enjoys killing time with Angry Birds, I can appreciate this 24tee shirt.

Once again Barbie is a slut at Loviu.

I feel like the Mario image is a little bit awkward on this Catch of the Day Tee shirt, but I do still like the design overall, and I’m not sure how I’d prefer Mario to look, so it’s a bit of an unfair comment.

Japanese -inspired design from Shirt Punch. Man, I’d love to go back to Japan on another holiday.

Ugmonk have released a premium wooden ampersand (that holds itself to a stainless steel base with a super strong magnet) priced at $299 that makes me wish I knew how to use the very expensive CNC that we have in our workshop (for my other job). As someone who has been around wood for his entire life I feel that it is a bit pricey, but then I’m looking at it as a product rather than art, and with it being a limited first run of 15 pieces I can see how that has pushed up the price.

Neighborhood have released a new expensive t-shirt.

Today only you can get 20% off your order at Glamour Kills with the coupon code TRICKORTREAT.

New blogger on HYA Goodfibres have cut the price of their shirts to £15 until November 7th.

PalmerCash have 20 new shirts in stock, presumably these are two of them.

Storenvy are giving away two signed copies of the Thread’s Not Dead book. IATT have all the details, be sure to enter before November 4th.

Wrongwroks have had a big release in their webstore, not many tees so I didn’t think I should give them their own post.

And lastly, your daily reading for t-shirt store owners from Mashable, “How to Time Your Facebook Posts to Reach the Most Fans“.

Two new shirts from laFraise

I definitely prefer the rainbow shirt to the chess one, but they’re both pretty good at laFraise this week.

samba de los muertos t-shirt

Meat Bun aren’t the kind of brand I’d expect to release a shirt that coincides with Dia De Los Muertos (November 1st), since their header graphic and many of their shirts celebrate Japan, but no one said they had to restrict their shirts to just one country, especially when the shirt is as interesting as this. Personal choice for me in the colourful version.

Outcry Apparel – very new, very nice tees

by Andy on September 21, 2011

outcry apparel t-shirts

Looks like I’m all over the new brands today, Outcry Apparel launched just 16 days ago and came out of the blocks strongly with three cool, and kind of dark, designs. Lara Hanlon, who runs Outcry by herself, seems to have done everything right so far, really strong artwork, put together a decent website that gives us everything we need, running the store through Big Cartel so we know it’s safe, and done a photoshoot that shows off the shirts properly. All the shirts are discharge printed (yes!) and cost €15 a piece.

Daily Tee Roundup Sept. 7th 2011

by Andy on September 7, 2011

leonardo dicaprio meme t-shirts

I have been posting the daily tee sites for a couple of weeks now, and whilst I think it is a good idea, I don’t really like the way that it is dominating the site so much when you look through the previous pages, it looks like daily tee sites are the main focus of HYA, which they aren’t, everything in the tee world is the focus of HYA. So I’m going to give putting them in a group a go and publishing a roundup post each day and see how that goes. Comments welcome if you’d like to advise which format you prefer.

‘Feeling Dreamy’ is a shirt that you can like on two levels; one, it’s just a nice design, and two, there is definitely a meme in there and I’m not going to let slip what it is. $12 for a few more hours at Tilteed.

‘The Juniper Tree’ is okay, but I’m not getting too excited by it, it’s just one of those designs that anyone could have in their wardrobe but it’s never going to be a favourite. $10 today at Shirt.Woot

‘Dire Brew’ is apparently something to do with Game of Thrones, I haven’t seen the show yet (it is Sky+’d though), y’all think I’m gonna love it? $10 today at TeeFury

‘Let’s Roll’ is a Big Lebowski t-shirt, obviously, and a mighty fine one at that. This is what you get when you meet a stranger in the Alps! From $10 today at RIPT Apparel.

‘Dextoon’ is my favourite daily tee of the day, in fact it’s probably going to be my shirt of the week (not that I keep a chart, I just think it’s really good), fun style and a good way to deal with Dexter since shirts about serial killers tend to be a bit depressing and gory. £8 at Qwertee for another day and a half.

‘I hate police’ isn’t a sentiment that I agree with, but I do like the style of this shirt so I’m a little bit torn. €12 at Loviu today.

‘Tree’ is a pretty clever shirt, by no means brilliant, but I’d be happy seeing it in my wardrobe. $25 from today onwards at Stupidhurts.us

“MJ Skull” t-shirt at Tshirt Store

by Andy on July 29, 2011

michael jackson skull t-shirt

Remember how loads of people made Michael Jackson t-shirts before his body was even cold? I still do not approve of that, it was pretty distasteful, people selling tees whilst telling jokes about him at the same time. We’re two years on now and I’d be willing to bet that most of those shirts don’t get worn often, but it’s good to see a shirt like this being released that is a quality design that actually has some thought behind it (his colour, black or white, was irrelevant) that will stand the test of time.
