splitreason sale

Do you like buying geeky shirts for $10? Yeah, me too (well, not that I actually buy tees of course). You know what’s even better than geeky tees for $10? Geeky tees for $5!

Yes, Split Reason have got a big old sale going on at the moment with t-shirts as low as $5 (there’s a few hoodies down to $30 too), good work SplitReason!

wii gym t-shirt

Looking at this tee by SplitReason, it makes me wonder how on earth no one has come out with a game for the Wii that incorporates weights to help you work out, seems like a no brainer to me!

split reason coupon code

I should probably point out that the ‘geeky good’ in the title doesn’t mean this coupon code for Split Reason is in any way limited, I just wanted to point out that they have lots of geeky stuff, the coupon code should work on anything in store. The coupon code in question is OCTORAWK and it will get you 15% off your order from now until the end of the month.

I have no idea how long this coupon code will be valid, but they only released it a couple of days ago so it should still have some legs on it for a while (whatever that means). Use the coupon code REDRING at the Split Reason checkout to receive 10% off your order.

Ackbarography by Split Reason

by Andy on January 18, 2010

Star Wars and typography combined in one shirt? Why, surely that’s the recipe for a tee-plosion of nerdy blog excitement?

If this was an infomercial I’m sure I’d tell you about how buying this tee from Split Reason wouldn’t be a trap in some extremely convoluted way, but I’ll restrain myself this time around.

Fear Nothing and Be Fantastic by Split Reason

by Andy on January 12, 2010

I’m not entirely sure why there’s a Lego piece on this tee, which makes me think that there might be more to this than meets the eye, but I still like it nevertheless, even if the type treatment doesn’t look like the original Keep Calm and Carry On design.

Space Invader Hoodie(!) by Split Reason

by Andy on January 7, 2010

As you can tell from that exclamation mark, I’m a little bit excited about this hoodie, so clearly my Space Invaders addiction shows no sign of being alleviated.

The big sewn-on Space Invader graphic on the front doesn’t actually do a whole lot for me, it’s rather normal, though as I am a fan I would still probably wear it. For me, the best part of this hoodie can be found inside the hood, where there’s that wonderful patterned lining. There’s also a custom zipper pull that’s cool, I would have preferred to see a cut-out of an invader, though that’s probably not particularly practical.

Split Reason are also going back to school

by Andy on August 27, 2009

The sales are coming thick and fast at the moment, aren’t they?

Like the infographic says, use the code SCHOOLNOOBS at Split Reason before September 15th and you’ll receive 20% off your order.

101 Robot T-Shirts [Lists]

by Andy on June 19, 2009

With the release of what is almost certain to be the greatest movie of all time today in the UK and across the world over the next week, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity for me to hunt down some robot t-shirts, especially as the previous robot-themed lists have are two of Hide Your Arm’s most popular articles to date. I must admit that I was a total child for the first Transformers live-action movie, even though I realise that in many, many ways it is utterly terrible, but I still smiled throughout the whole thing because it was goddamn awesome. Robots, fighting, and Megan Fox, what more could I possibly want? I’m pretty sure that you could rob my house whilst that film is on TV and I’d only realise you were doing it once you unplugged the Blu-Ray player. I guess you could say I’m a little excited about Revenge of the Fallen being released, which is why I went a little robot crazy and compiled this huge robot tee loving list. Enjoy!

This post took around 15 hours to compile, if you could take a few seconds to tweet about the post, stumble it, bookmark it on delicious, digg it, possibly even mention it in a blog post, I would be incredibly grateful, not only because it would send more visitors to my site, but also because it would help to support the brands featured, many of whom are pretty small and need all the exposure they can get.

SplitReason have released 4 new shirts, 3 of them are good, and the 4th is a logo tee which is perfectly fine, but not in the same realm as the others.

What Rocks? The Number 5! [Competitions

by Andy on December 3, 2008

I almost forgot to mention this, but the winner of the recent ‘What Rocks‘ competition is my fellow tee blogger Rude Retro, who was the the person picked by the random number generator at Enjoy your $25 gift certificate!

Thanks once again to Split Reason for so generously continuing to sponsor contests on HYA, and also thanks to everyone for taking part, I’ve been checking out a few of the band recommendations and you know what? You guys have pretty good taste!

Lower Colwith Force

[Just a little something to calm you down on this crazy shopping day]

I think that pretty much every e-mail I’ve received for the past few days has involved some kind of coupon or deal or percentage, and I’ve tried to cover each one in a post, but there’s just too many, so here’s a bumper sized post that has a looooad (15, to be precise) of deals in it.

1. Mimoco

2. 50% off at Digital Gravel until Monday.

3. 40% off at Local Celebrity by using the coupon code BLACKISBEAUTIFUL, valid until Sunday.

4. 50% off all tees at Beandip Clothing, no coupon needed, not sure if this one goes on all weekend, so you don’t have too long to get in on the action.

5. Even though they’re British, Urban Retro are getting into the coupon code madness, use code XMAS25 to get 25% off your order this weekend.

6. There seems to be a bit of small print to this one (as you can see at the bottom of the image), but 30% is still a good deal, especially when you can knock that off items which are already on sale. Also, WEGOBBLE is a pretty cute coupon code, well done Tobi.

7. Fred Flare are offering free shipping this weekend (which is a $7.95 value) by using the coupon code MO, sure, it’s not the biggest deal on the list, but at least you can’t complain about the shipping prices!

8. You’ll have to be quick to catch this one at Random Shirts:

Now that you’re rolling out of bed and trying to recover from that turkey coma, it’s time to do some serious shopping. Today is the day you’ve been waiting for your entire life!….buy 3 shirts…get 2 free. Go, now. You won’t regret it. Remember …every time you buy 3 shirts you get 2 for free ALL day. That means if you buy 6 you’ll get 4 free, if you buy 9 you’ll get 6 free..and so on. We are confident that you can get all your holiday shopping done for the rest of your life on this one day. Simply add all your shirts to the cart to see the discount!

9. Get 30% off your order at 80s Purple by using the coupon code black08, offer valid until Monday.

10. There’s 30-60% off selected items this weekend at Mishka NYC, and you can get another 10% off your order (on top of the sale savings) by using the discount code BLACKFRIDAY.

11. Sure The Cotton Factory‘s flyer isn’t the flashiest but it gets the job done! Use coupon code BLITZKRIEG from now until Monday for 15% off your order.

12. Split Reason are offering a healthy 20% off everything by using the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY.

13. Nukod are doing something for Franco-American relations and are getting involved with the discount fun.

Orders over 60 Euros get 30% OFF > use discount code NUKOD30 at checkout
Orders over 100 Euros get 40% OFF > use discount code NUKOD40 at checkout

14. Buy two or more tees at Walkie Talkie tees and you’ll be eligible for free shipping!

16. There’s 20% off at Mediocore Clothing until Sunday, using the coupon code AWESOME, maybe you could put that saving towards the tee above that is currently on pre-order.

17. Johnny Cupcake‘s offering for Black Friday this year is a 20% coupon code (SANTA) that you can use online, or print off the coupon above and take it into any of the JC bricks & mortar stores, which is a cool addition. Valid until December 2nd.

18. This one isn’t just for Black Friday since it goes on until January 1st, but its a decent deal so I thought I’d include it. £3/$6 off each Bang Bang T-Shirts tee ain’t half bad, and remember, there’s free worldwide shipping on all orders.

19. have HYA up with a coupon code which lasts for more than the rest of the weekend, it lasts all the way to January 5th! Just use the code HYA and you’ll get 10% off your order.

20. Paper Root Clothing have got up to 50% off their shirts and also a few $5 grab bags, no fancy schmancy coupon code necessary.

21. You’ve only got 4 hours before this code goes dead. Hunty from MySoti got drunk, no, really, and he set up a coupon code for 20% off your order, it’s drunkenmadness and it will be gone soon, so if you’ve had your eye on something over there this is a good opportunity to pick it up.

22. Get 20% off at Catastrophic Clothing with the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY… obviously. *Now running through to Monday.

23. hoodie People have knocked 25% off their Upper Playground (mens here, womens here) range, I don’t know what the expiration date is on it, but the coupon code is upsalehoodies.

24. Now that is a good deal to end this post on, Glarkware have got some very, very, cheap items, and you don’t even need a coupon code!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Split Reason, the great store for gamers and geeks, has teamed up with Hide Your Arms to give one lucky reader a $25 gift certificate. As usual, it is spectacularly, almost insultingly easy to get yourself in with a chance of winning the prize.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me who your favourite band is or a song you like, or maybe a band that you think I might like, basically, tell me what rocks!

I’m going to keep the competition open until midnight (GMT) this Friday, November 28th, and the winner will be announced on Monday. For those of you that are wondering the band in the picture are my good friends Decorate in Flames (MySpace link), who do rock.

And the winner is… [Competitions]

by Andy on November 17, 2008

To be frank, I was surprised at some of the guesses that you guys left for the “guess how many times I fill up the van whilst driving back from France” competition. I think the highest one was 17. I don’t want to poke fun, but since it was a 1200ish mile journey, that would have meant I’d be stopping at a petrol station pretty much every 70 miles, which is more than once an hour… which is just silly.

The actual number was even lower than I had expected, there were a few entries for 6 stops, and I thought they were probably going to be right (in which case I had the tiebreaker ready: “how many cans of Red Bull-style energy drink did I cosume to stop myself falling asleep at the wheel and becoming another statistic of France’s poor road safety record?”). But, in reality, the amount of fill-ups was even lower than that. It was…

I think I might have even been able to make it on three, but you never want to push things too far. There was only one person to correctly guess/calculate that was Alex, so he will be the recipient of a $25 gift certificate from our friends over at Split Reason.

{ 1 comment }

Today is my last day in the South of France, tomorrow I’m setting off early in the morning on the 1150-mile drive home. I thought it would be a pretty fun competition for you guys to guess how many times I fill up the van with gas/petrol, and whoever is the closest wins a $25 gift certificate from our friends at Split Reason. My journey will be finished on Monday eveing (hopefully), but I won’t tell anyone and keep entries open until next Friday evening so that everyone has a chance to guess. If you want to get all scientific about it to help with your calculations:

The van is a two-year old Ford Transit in good condition. The roof rack will be staying on even though it makes a whistling noise above 40mph. All but about 40 miles of the trip will be on motorways/autoroutes (basically, the fast roads). There is approximately 200-300kg of load in the back of the van. I will have a passenger, but he is thin.

Of course, trying to work out how much fuel someone is going to use is pretty tough since I don’t always fill up at the same level of tank emptiness, e.g. when we stop for lunch, I’ll probably fill up then even if the tank is half full, and I usually like to fill up when we first get on the road in the morning.

The winner will be the person who either guesses the correct number or is closest. In the event that two or more people guess the right number I’ll ask them to guess how many of cans of Red Bull I had to drink to ensure I didn’t fall asleep at the wheel.

And the winner is… [Competitions]

by Andy on November 3, 2008

Once again, I turned to the trusty integer generator, put in the amount of comments on the competition page (23, not too shabby guys!) and asked it to pick out one number for me, that number was 3 (or ‘trois’, as I have been calling it for a while), which means that the winner of the $25 gift certificate from Split Reason is….

Curtis said that his favourite game of all time (all time!) was ‘Jazz Jackrabbit 2‘, which I think its fair to say is a somewhat unusual choice, considering he could have picked Goldeneye, which is blatantly a lot better.

Congratulations to Curtis, and keep a look out for more competitions on Hide Your Arms in the near future, and when I say near future, I mean that there is going to be another competition as soon as I can think up a decent question.

Here are three of the latest tees available at Split Reason, perhaps you might pick one of them up if you were the winner of this weeks Split Reason x HYA gift certificate giveaway?
