A blog about hoodies & t-shirts, with news from the independent clothing world

I guess looking at this hoodie you don’t think that there’s anything really special going on, just a guy climbing a ladder on on top of a splash of colour, right?

Wrong. As far as I can tell, nothing on this hoodie is printed, it’s all stitched, which I’m guessing is quite a lot of work considering how much is going on at the back of this hoodie. I can’t decide whether I’d actually wear it, but I am certainly impressed by it.

Ooohh, flowers!

Now, I don’t want to conform to a male stereotype and alienate the female readership, but you girls do like glowers right?

Either way, I think this is a cute hoodie, with some tasty embroidery, and subtle tones over the flowers, where you would usually expect to see a big brash design with bright colours. Oh, and there’s another flower stitched onto the back, which keeps in with the subtle theme, because its tucked away in a corner, just minding its own business.

I’m not sure what stock its printed on, but with all the stitch work that I assume goes into this it arguably justifies the higher than usual (for the blog, anyway) asking price.

Honey, tie would dye for you

I don’t know if I’m the edge of starting a trend here by recommending a tie-dye hoodie, but I think it’s pretty cute, so I will acceptr any tie-dye based mockery with good humour, and remember, tie-dye is fun!

The colour really suits the summer, since I’ve generally put away my black tees and started wearing a lot more lighter colours (baby/sky blue rocks my world), and the style of this hoodie has a really summery feel to it, with the patches andn the subtle use of printed shapes (flowers, perhaps?)

Yarr, tis a fine hoodie

How on earth did I manage to do about two months of posting without mentioning pirates once?

psweat

I don’t really get the whole pirate obsession that exists within eCommerce, even though I have been known to dress up as a pirate (complete with parrot) on occasion, but I do like thi.

Blackbird fashion is ran by the fabulously named Clarity Miller (look, I’m British, we don’t get all those cool American names like ‘Audio Science’ and ‘Pilot’), and whilst Blackbird is a mighty pirate-y name for a clothing label, there isn’t actually that much pirate schwag there, so if you’re looking to get kitted out for your next frat party or bar crawl, sorry.

I like the stitched on felt that’s been used to create the skull and cross bones, and for a change I actually like that something is one colour, if there were any more if would detract from the simple design.

P.S. does that skull look a bit forlorn and depressed to you? I think it’s something in the eyes.
