MNSTRMSH™ releases a range of lightweight garments just in time for the Fall and that perfect West Coast weather! Visit for more!

Andy: Usually, I have an aversion to brands that rely on their logo or their own name so much, but I think these guys manage to pull it off with quite a lot of style.

Freedminds dropped their new season of t-shirts recently, it’s their seventh look book now and going strong. In the lookbook it features 6 graphic t-shirts, a tank top, a 40oz pin and their first snapback. Based out of San Francisco, they’re a lifestyle brand with a ruthless attitude – but yet still humble. Anyone placing an order will receive custom brain print bags and stickers too. T-shirts are going for $32 a piece.

A couple of new designs from AZIMO

Post image for A couple of new designs from AZIMO

We all know that my hairy and not-particularly-toned shoulders mean that I don’t give tank tops much consideration, but I am really digging that ‘laugh all day’ tee design from this Summer collection from AZIMO.

Nice release from Halfcut Clothing, I’d say that the white Philadelphia shirt is my favourite, but then again I am a touch biased towards that particular city. All the tees and the tank top are priced at $24 a piece and available now.

Post image for “Rock on” t-shirt and tank top from Atslopes

I do like the style of this t-shirt and tank top at Atsolpes, but it’s hard to deny that’s it’s fairly generic, which leaves me a bit conflicted over it since I like it, but do feel it isn’t their best work. Tees are $27, and the tank top is $25.

Every T-shirt in “This is Spinal Tap”

by Andy on August 16, 2012

spinal tap t-shirts

I was watching Spinal Tap with friends a few months ago and couldn’t help but notice that there were an awful lot of t-shirts on show, and since I had so much fun with the Scott Pilgrim t-shirt list I thought I’d give this one a go. It’s hardly surprising considering that tees are the classic rock n’ roll wardrobe staple, but it’s still fun to see interesting tees being worn by characters in a movie, especially when I imagine that quite a lot of them were created specifically for the movie itself.

In spite of the popularity of the film then and now, there are surprisingly few companies out there which have taken the plunge and recreated shirts from the movie, with most seemingly happy to put “it goes to 11″ on a tee and leave it at that. It’s disappointing, but maybe if this post does well some enterprising freelance designers will put their efforts onto a print-on-demand site like Cafepress, Zazzle, or RedBubble so you can snap them up before they get DMCA takedown requests. If they make them, I’ll post them here, but for now we’ll have to make do with merely enjoying looking at the great t-shirts featured in Spinal Tap. Please note that I was taking screen grabs from the DVD version of the film since I don’t know anyone with the Blu-Ray version, but if this post gets enough attention I will happily order a copy of the Blu-Ray so that we can have some extra detail for the images. Also, I would never claim to be a Spinal Tap authority, I’ve seen the film a few times and really like it, but if I make any errors in this post just let me know and I’ll fix it right up.

What is FBD? [Submitted]

FBD is Fresh Baked Daily Clothing where we just simply make dope and sell dope stuff, but on a more serious level we are a brand that represents the endless creativity of the youth today. We believe that everybody should express their creativity and ideals, outwardly…. Our free shipping code is FBDSHIP so come check out the dope stuff in our store.

Andy: Ack, I was impressed with these guys until I went onto their store and all of a sudden music started coming out of the speakers on my PC. I thought people had learned by now that auto-playing music was a no-no when it comes to web design? I can assure you that any store with music that autoplays will perform worse (in terms of sales, time on site, pageviews, etc.) than one that doesn’t. If a shop wants to have music in their online store that’s fine, but make it an option, forcing an experience onto someone online is a very good way of getting them to leave the page. Similarly, having the main site hosted on Wix makes it hard for me to take the brand seriously, and it being all flash will not be good for the brand in terms of SEO. Working on those elements (why spend so much on the product and then present it in anything other than the best way possible?) will really help the brand.

Tank Tops available now at BustedTees

by Andy on August 3, 2012

bustedtees tank tops

With the hot days of Summer BustedTees have put some of their more popular designs on tank tops, I’ve put three up there but there’s 9 in the range, and some definitely work better as a tank than others. They’re priced at $14 and available now.

dance party massacre sale

Really nice looking new range from Dance Party Massacre, and when I heard that the lookbook video had Justice right at the start I knew I was going to enjoy it. That 75% off sale is looking pretty epic too, should be starting in a couple of hours if my recollection of time zones is correct.

domestic sanity t-shirts

Domestic Sanity Summer 2012 Lookbook from Domestic Sanity on Vimeo.

I got an e-mail from Mark over at Domestic Sanity letting me know about his first line of t-shirts ad tank tops. His exact words towards the end of the message were “I am pretty green to this industry.” When I see that it’s usually not a good sign, but in this case I was very pleasantly surprised by the level of quality that went into the production of their video lookbook, easily as good as some music videos. The quality level seems to run through the rest of the operation too, resulting in a very impressive release for someone doing their first line.

A t-shirt from Domestic Sanity will run you $28 and if you cut the arms off and go for the tank top option then you’re looking at $22 a piece.

{ 3 comments } summer 2012 collection

Tank tops, tees, and a snapback hat in this Summer release from CX.City, really nice stuff as usual and a lovely lookbook photoshoot to go with it. Tees and tanks are on pricing parity here, with both being $24.95 each.
