Art in the Age are the Walrus

Art in the Age loves the Walrus

Art in the Age loves the Walrus

*Sorry guys, as Kevin points out in the comments, I’ve actually already written about this design.

This tee gives a shout out to a Philadelphia music blog called The Walrus, which I’d never heard of, but then again, I’m not from Philadelphia, and the only music blog I subscribe to is Stereogum, so what chance did I really have?

But if you don’t know what the blog is, like me, it doesn’t really matter for this design, because you might just think that there’s a cool looking Walrus on a t-shirt, and that would probably be enough for you. And if you’re a fan of the blog then you’re in a little secret society of music lovers that rally around your big-teethed mascot and nod at each other whenever you spot someone wearing the tee.

Now, isn’t that a pretty picture?

Cool design, homemade silk print (so don’t expect a costiness/link at the bottom), and a cool log exposure photo to go with it, how could you want anything more? I’m sure I recognise the style of the face on the pyramid from somewhere, I get the feeling it might be some kind of Japanese character, if you’ve got any idea just drop a comment please.Photo credits: taklu4she & herbhrb

The Biker’s Jacket by Freshjive @ Karmaloop

Freshjive have been impressing me more and more recently, although I guess it might just be the case that I’ve just been taking more notice of them since picking up one of their beanies.

The Biker’s Jacket by Freshjive @ Karmaloop

I’m not entirely sure whether this is an asymmetric zip, but it appears to be, and I like that, it just gives this jacket a little bit of extra interest and makes it stand out from the competition, and the unusual way that the over-sized lapel on the left (right for the wearer) seems to come from underneath the zip is a pretty cool idea too.

I look at this hoodie and all I can think about is Zach Morris and his hilariously large mobile phone. How is it even possible that something so retro can look so fresh? I’ve been saying the phrase “what’s old is new again” quite a lot recently, maybe I might actually be right this time?

Geometry hoody by SCIFEN @ Karmaloop
For some reason, when I look at this hoodie, the phrase “large and in charge” comes to mind. I have no idea why, it doesn’t even make sense, but I do think that it looks pretty damn cool, maybe the colours could do with popping a bit more, the brown and the burgundy seems a little bit subdued. Anyway, just thinking out loud here, is it conceivable that patterns like this that are used in streetwear are becoming the modern equivalent of tartan?

Create the Future by the Imaginary Foundation
Considering everyone, everyone, loves Imaginary Foundation, the shadowy and mystery design think tank, I don’t really mention them all that often do I?

I think that this tee is from their latest batch of designs, I really like the way that the perspective is set so that it actually looks like you’re moving into the future the further along the line you go. Without having seen the title and if the colours were a little more dour I would have presumed that this tee was a commentary upon the monotonous routine that a lot of white collar workers endure on a daily basis, but that just wouldn’t be very Imaginary Foundation-like now, would it?

Honey, tie would dye for you

2d8035_blue_large Honey, tie would dye for you

I don’t know if I’m the edge of starting a trend here by recommending a tie-dye hoodie, but I think it’s pretty cute, so I will acceptr any tie-dye based mockery with good humour, and remember, tie-dye is fun!

The colour really suits the summer, since I’ve generally put away my black tees and started wearing a lot more lighter colours (baby/sky blue rocks my world), and the style of this hoodie has a really summery feel to it, with the patches andn the subtle use of printed shapes (flowers, perhaps?)
