This lovely Greg Abbott t-shirt is back at Tilteed.

These three shirts are new-ish at Camiseteria.

Like Sin Star on Facebook and you’ll be sent a massive 50% off coupon code. This offer is good until March 20th.

Threadless screenprint 99% of their tees, but they are experimenting with DTG. Sounds like a good way to make sure some of the less loved designs don’t get consigned to the design cemetery.

star wars argyle t-shirt

Very nice argyle Star Wars t-shirt today at TeeFury.

Seems to me like this is the kind of design that Shirt.Woot should have been selling in the run up to Christmas.

RIPT drop a Milton Glaser-inspired Doctor Who t-shirt.

Harry Potter Muggle Ale shirt at Qwertee.

Those troublesome Tribbles are at Shirt Punch today.

Skyrim is the inspiration for this Nowhere Bad shirt.

I have no idea what the inspiration is for this design at The Yetee.

Star Wars meets Firefly today at OtherTees (who have a snazzy new site).

TeeRaiders have a Doctor Who design as well.

24tee go for the niche with one of the stars of the (surprisingly enthralling) King of Kong coin-op games documentary.

DBH love owls. On that subject, I saw a man walking down the street with an owl yesterday. Owls are great.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling one of their lesser seen designs again.

I have no idea what the kanji (presuming it’s Japanese) on this shirt says, so buyer beware at TeeMinus24.

Glennz has made some more designs available as hoodies.

Mashable have a guide to building a strong online community around your brand.

Everything is on sale at Myth Clothing.

This Rihanna ‘thug life’ tattoo picture has been doing the rounds, but it’s her John Lennon t-shirt that interests me the most.

80s movies t-shirt

Sorry about the intermittent service on HYA recently, our wireless router failed last week, I ordered another on rush delivery from Amazon and when it arrived it wouldn’t work, and our backup router is quite old and a little flakey which doesn’t help things. There is another router on the way from Amazon though, so hopefully all of this will be sorted out before I go on my traditional Christmas break.

Wow, there really were a lot of iconic movies released in 1985, cool shirt from TeeFury.

Daily Tees & News for December 12th

breaking bad t-shirt

Everyone have a good weekend? I did until last night when I had a nasty fall during my snowboarding lesson at the dry slope. Fell on my front, my jakcet rode up and my stomach turned into ‘brakes’, my tummy new resembles those crisps that are meant to look like streaky bacon, oh, the pain!

I really want to get into Breaking Bad, but after a couple of episodes of the first season it was just too depressing so I stopped, I will probably try again though. Shirt is $10 today at TeeFury.

I haven’t read Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, but apparently this Qwertee shirt has something to do with it.

Apparently this RIPT tee is something to do with a cartoon show that may or may not be on TV anymore but to be completely honest I don’t recognise it and no one mentions it in the RIPT comments, your suggestions please!

And what band is this Owl at Shirt.Woot listening to? The Who, of course!

Pretty rare that you see a Gremlins tee, but this is a lovely example of the breed at The Yetee.

Seinfeld Festivus shirt over at TeeMinus24. Funny how you don’t hear much about Christmukkah nowadays.

I haven’t seen Donnie Darko so this shirt at OtherTees may or may not be genius.

You want an Angry Birds t-shirt? 24tee have got it!

A melting Portal companion cube greets us today at TeeRaiders.

I really like this Star Wars design at Graphic Lab, but I do question the black on dark grey colour choice. Then again, it would probably look a bit naff if it was on a white t-shirt.

Ahhh, one of my favourite Loviu designs.

Pikachu gets an outing on this Shirt Punch design.

Tshirt Contest ensure that we have at least one Doctor Who t-shirt today, thank goodness.

Very nice shirt of the day at DBH.

BustedTees deal of the next couple of days is their attachment that you put on a beer to make it look like you have a mustache. Presumably it’s like those little win trinkets people buy so that you know who’s wine glass belongs to who, except for beer. $8.99 for 6 instead of $11.99

Expansion II comes out to play once again at Tilteed.

Tee Mashups is a site I found out about at the weekend that offers designs on sale for 48 hours. Today and tomorrow they have a Dick Tracey vs Carmen Sandiego shirt available.

Megan Fox may be a very attractive lady, and that’s a pretty cool sweatshirt, but I will never understand why people wear stuff that looks like it has spent a few months with a bunch of moths.

Wrongwroks have added hiking boots to their product range, of course.

There’s 25% off everything today only at Loserkids.

Mashable have a good resource for increasing Facebook engagement through custom tabs that should be useful for store owners.

Yes No Maybe have a few coupon codes available. The more you spend the more you save, all the way up to 20% off.

Original Music Shirt, who I still think took a lot of inspiration from Threadless with their redesign, are offering free global shipping with the coupon code ILIKETOMOVEIT if you spend 25€+ before December 14th.

Springleap are holding a contest that is only open to previous design winners, which should make for some pretty tasty entries.

OMUNKY are offering 18% off from now until December 19th with the coupon code 18off2011.

PalmerCash are now selling shirts, the kind with buttons!

The Quiet Life are running a holiday promo, if you spend $100 or more they’ll give you a free duffel bag that they usuall charge $40 for. It would be perfect for carrying around your gym gear since that will inevitably be your new years resolution. Go to the gym more dammit Andy! They’ve also restocked their hat selection.

Terratag are knocking 10% off all orders. No coupon necessary, the discount will automatically be applied at the checkout.

Whilst I do like the idea of ‘ugly’ Christmas tees I think that this Kickstarter project might be a bit too late, it won’t be funded (if it reaches 100%) until January 9th, and then when will you receive the shirt? I’m pretty sure everyone’s Christmas cheer will be long gone by that time.

teefury grab bag

Usually I think that mystery tees/grab bags are a bit of a waste of time, but in this instance I’m willing to be less cynical and accept that it’s a great way to pick up some shirts for friends & family at Christmas, pick up a couple of shirts in each size (you can order up to 12 per size) and if something turns up you like keep it for yourself, if not give it to a family member!

I really, really like this Hokkusai-based t-shirt design at RIPT today, absolutely fantastic.

All the bacon and eggs! Shirt.Woot.

boardwalk empire t-shirt

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I did, during my snowboarding lesson at the dry slope it started to snow!

I can’t be the only person that feels kind of scared when this guy comes on screen during Boardwalk Empire, right? Definitely some fine acting going on there. TeeFury.

RIPT have a shirt that I’m sure will not anger any Star Wars or Star Trek fans.

Qwertee have dropped a Shining/Joker shirt for Jack Nicholson fans.

Daily Tees & News for December 2nd

teefury highlander t-shirt

When I opened all the daily sites today (21 tabs, Firefox doesn’t care for that much) I wondered whether I’d actually get to see the TeeFury site. Thankfully it turned up, so any possible malware that may have existed yesterday appears to have been removed and all is right with the world again. I remain disappointed by the response from TeeFury about the issue, it took them at least 13 hours to acknowledge any kind of problem (done by their Facebook page), and they only wrote about it after the warning message had been removed. They posted this message on Twitter at the same time as the Facebook message: “If you had trouble reaching http://teefury.com earlier, try now! We’ve addressed the issue that was causing problems: http://ow.ly/7LyK8″ That link now goes to a 404 page. Frankly, that is not good enough, if you might be exposing your fans to malware via your site you have to tell people by every avenue about the issue and warn them as soon as possible, not when you’ve fixed the problem, and you should make some kind of mention of it when you send out a newsletter that day (presumably to thousands of people). I still like TeeFury and will continue to write about them, but I do not like the way they dealt with this situation.

Nerd joke at RIPT today.

hide your arms threadless gift guide

This is exceptionally cool, after years of writing about Threadless Dee and I were invited to pick some of our favourite items that Threadless have to offer to be turned into a gift guide on their site. Naturally, we said yes and were quite excited about it.

I picked 6 of my favourite tees for guys. I think that they all represent HYA fairly well, I own three of the selection; ‘Flowers in the attic’ was the first Threadless shirt I ever ordered, ‘When Pandas Attack’ is an excellent execution of a badass t-shirt, and ‘House Brawl’ shows even though I’m not a big fan of Harry Potter (I bought it to wear to see the last movie, then never went to see it!). It wouldn’t be HYA without a shirt that referenced Star Wars, and I just love burgers & Transformers. All the shirts are $20 each except for ‘When Pandas Attack’ which is $24, but until December 6th you can receive 50% off your t-shirts with the coupon code FUZZY2011.

With Dee being Hide Your Arms resident Threadless nerd I thought it was only fair that she got to pick a selection of girly shirts, especially since in the past I’ve made it pretty clear that I don’t understand the way the female brain works. She has picked out a pretty wide selection of shirts, ranging from the classic cute shirt ‘Cookie Loves Milk’ to the more horror-themed end of the spectrum with the comic-inspired shirt ‘Every night I have the same dream, Issue 2, Vol. 1′. She also added a hoodie into her selection, and you can get 40% off any hoodie at Threadless with the same coupon code as I mentioned before, FUZZY2011.

I also wanted to highlight the non-clothing items that Threadless sells in our gift guide. I think it’s a really interesting aspect of their business and one that I’m always interested to see expand. It’s also something that shows just how much they’re willing to experiment with what they offer and try different things. If you haven’t picked up the book yet I would recommend it, it charts the ups and ummm, more ups of Threadless over the last decade and looks just gorgeous. Also, who wouldn’t want a Threadless umbrella?

Thanks to Threadless for letting Dee & I put this together.

teefury reported attack page

Welcome to December. Naturally a lot of brands will be focusing on making sales during the run up to Christmas, and I suspect we’ll see a lot of coupon codes and discounts revolving around that, so the news portion of these roundups will likely grow. These roundups do take quite a lot of time, so if you like it, share it please!

When I try to visit TeeFury Firefox comes up with this. Now, I am 100% confident that Teefury has not been an elaborate phishing scam from the beginning, but after checking out their Facebook page it seems a lot of people have also had this message come up, so I feel that their site may have been compromised in some way. This happened to HYA once and it was hell getting it fixed as someone that doesn’t have much technical expertise, hopefully they will have it sorted soon and it doesn’t cause too many headaches, but I recommend anyone who has visited in the past few days to run a virus scan. There has been no response that I can see from Teefury as of yet.

Quite a clever shirt from Qwertee today, showing fictional books based on movies such as Ghostbusters and Back To The Future.

There’s a lot of excitement over at RIPT for this Star Wars x Transformers mashup.

Daily Tees & News for November 29th

night of the living dead t-shirt

Very cool Night of the Living Dead shirt from TeeFury today.

Here’s another Firefly design I don’t understand at Qwertee, and I’m all the more confused because it is a Jurassic Park mashup too.

Song Bird makes another appearance at Tilteed.

Good use of negative space from Stupidhurts.us today.

Nice take on the old proverb from Shirt.Woot.

I guess that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles must be popular again since there is a definite rise in the amount of TMNT shirts I’ve been seeing recently, and I’m not exactly hunting them out. From $10 at RIPT.

I previously featured this shirt a couple of weeks ago when it was on RedBubble, but now it has made it’s way over to The Yetee for the next few days.

I haven’t seen Machete but this parody shirt from OtherTees still makes me laugh.

How depressed does Snuffaluffagus look? 24tee.

As a big Community fan I am very pleased to see this ‘Troy & Abed in the morning’ shirt up at TeeRaiders.

The infinite Swiss army knife makes a return to Loviu.

Nice to see a Zoidberg/Futurama shirt on Shirt Punch today.

I think I’d probably like this latest DBH shirt if it didn’t have the sea turtle on it, but it’s still wearable nevertheless.

Don’t worry, it’s cool to be a nerd now! $11 down from $20 at BustedTees today.

The Cool Hunting gift guide is now live.

I Am The Trend have an excellent post introducing Grave Takers, a new brand from Kyle Crawford of Electric Zombie fame.

RUReppin found some useful articles for t-shirt designers.

Threadless 50% off coupon code!

by Andy on November 29, 2011

threadless 50% off coupon code
Threadless may have just had their big Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, but they aren’t done with savings for the year yet!

If you use the code FUZZY2011 at the checkout you’ll receive a massive 50% off your order at Threadless. I’ve been a Threadless fan for a long time and I’m pretty certain that they’ve never released a coupon that big before, so now would be a good time to take advantage of those savings and pick up some cheap tees (or hoodies, or other things) and clear a few names off your Christmas list. After clearing those names off your list you can rightly feel smug for being far more organised than me and rest assured that you can enjoy the run up to Christmas without stressing about getting people presents.

The coupon code will expire on December 6th, so you’ve got about a week to take advantage of those savings with the code FUZZY2011. If you aren’t sure what to pick up then check out all the posts from HYAs resident Threadless nerd, Dee, and she’ll point you in the direction of some great choices.

Update: I forgot to mention that you can also get free shipping (in the US) if you spend over $60.

New at Threadless this Week (22/11/2011)

by DeeHYA on November 22, 2011

Hardly an explosive selection of tees this week at Threadless, maybe they are saving the big guns for Christmas times, just unfortunate that people in foreign countries might end up missing out. None that I’d be inclined to add to my basket personally.

Firstly I find this tee a disappointment, I can’t understand why anyone would be inclined to buy this unless they were a massive fan of whales, it just seems a bit drab to me. I probably wouldn’t consider In the Belly of a Beast by Kristen Howdeshell even if it were in the $5 clearance section.

I think this design is really hard to see, I’m guessing it must look better in person because I certainly wouldn’t buy it based on how it looks in the photos, if you have a dull 9-5 and you’re constantly craving the weekend maybe TGIF by Josh Gdovin might be one for you.

The best of the bad bunch in my opinion, because it has a bit of intelligence and a splash of colour and deserves it’s high rating, Light Painter by Tang Yau Hoong. It’s simple but original and one that I could see my boyfriend wearing.

Not enough tees have naked money ladies on, this is solved with The Nature of Problems but Matheus Lopes Castro. It stands out because its purple and the subject is so very relevant at the moment.

I quite like Welcome, Stranger by Niel Quisaba, it;s cool sometimes to see a design that spreads across the tee rather than centred right in the chest or stomach. There is a lot of detail on this tee so it will stand out.

Lastly, another tee where you can’t really see the design unless you look at the design itself, the model shots do it no justice. If you’re wanting bunnies nomming on knights this is the tee for you. Bad Tempered Rodents by Anna-Maria Jung.

coffee-aid t-shirt

Oh yeah! TeeFury

Were Tilteed not selling this design just a couple of weeks ago?

Nice Zelda shirt (right reference?) at Shirt.Woot today.

RIPT bring us a Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure mashup today.

It always amazes me how few Simpsons t-shirts there are out there. The Yetee.

Was someone else selling this Buffy the Vampire Slayer t-shirt recently? No matter, it’s available at OtherTees now.

I don’t know what or if there is a reference on this 24tee shirt, but it’s a pretty cool design either way.

A quick Google tells me that this TeeRaiders ‘Miranda Reavers’ design is something to do with Firefly.

At first I was like, “oh, that’s nice” then I looked at this Loviu design a little closer.

Oh man, I’d just written a whole thing about not getting the reference on this Shirt Punch tee, then it hit me, Marty McFly from Back To The Future?

Coty of CotyGonzales.com fame has a new-ish site called Exploration Hawaii all about hiking around Hawaii. We have some stunning walks around where I live (it may be called the Lake District, but there are hills around all those lakes), but the places he’s going look amazing. He’s running a little competition to win a $25 gift certificate from Threadless that I’m sure you’ll want to enter before November 10th.

Kissmetrics have a viral marketing cheat sheet that brand owners may want to check out.

Cuppa-T have put up their Christmas shipping dates.

PalmerCash are doing their bit for Movember.

Urban Outfitters (in the UK/Europe at least) are offering free shipping this weekend.

Hot Topic have updated their monthly coupon code, you can get 20% off with HTA20NOV providing you spend at least $60. Coupon expires December 2nd.

HYA blogger Sleepy Dan has added some snap back hats to his store, expect a behind the scenes look at how they were printed here in the next day or so.

Threadless have added some gorgeous (and massive) graphics to their partnership with Blik.

Make Believe have released a short but delightful video that really captures the spirit of their brand.

Terratag have got a grab bag offer going on that I think gives really good value. They’re mystery tees or sweats/hoodies, so you’ll have to be a big fan of Terratag, but since they have a fairly cohesive range, I think if you like one of their shirts you’ll probably like most of them.

Shirt designers always need more textures right? Apparently this free texture pack at Mintees is mighty fine.

Looks like Mintees are going to be opening a marketplace, which is going to be another nail in the coffin of ShirtHive (another idea I had but couldn’t find the time for).

There’s a really funny interview with former HYA blogger Randyotter at TheShirtList.

{ 2 comments }

Usually I have to feel guilty about posting brands with an affiliate link, because even though you guys know that HYA is my life and that running a website costs money, there’s still something a bit grubby about posting things when I can directly earn from it. However this time, the only way that you can receive the 25% discount is by clicking on the image above, or by clicking this link. I presume that the discount is applied automatically to your basket when you put enough items in to hit the $25 mark.

Threadless also sent out a couple of coupon codes in their newsletter, and I’m not going to be ordering anything before these run out so you guys might as well use them. Judging by the wording of the image above the coupons are one-time use, so when they’re gone they’re gone. Minimum purchase of $20 required for the coupons to work, and they will expire on October 15th. Just to save you guys the hassle of typing out what you see in the image, the coupons are WELL_HELLO_31_37462D56B4B5A4E7EA and WELL_HELL_31_6F37CD4B379EB0075.

t-post greenwashing t-shirt

Greenwashing, now there’s a tricky subject. I can’t remember the specifics of it, but you know how supermarkets always bug you about needing a carrier bag for your groceries because it’s bad for there to be lots of plastic bags on the planet? Well, they’re right, there’s no point wasting energy and raw materials when people already have lots of bags, but the amount of energy that goes into one plastic bag is equivalent to running my car for a couple of hundred yards, and I live 8 miles from a supermarket. Basically, don’t give me attitude when I need a bag because there are much bigger issues to worry about.

Quite a cool t-shirt from T-Post for their subscribers this month (it was made in collaboration with Threadless), if you subscribe to their service this month I think you will receive the shirt (I’m fairly sure that’s how they work, but it might be the case that you can no longer get the shirt and have to wait for the next mystery shirt to arrive at your door).

threadless hoodies

Threadless have taken the reigns in terms of their garment selection once again, and are now producing their own zip-up hoodies. They describe it thusly:

We thought about everything that could make a hoody better, and then we made it ourselves! 60% cotton and 40% polyester blend makes for super soft fleece. Additional features include reinforced pocket and zipper stitching and cord control (a nifty slit inside the right pocket plus an interior loop).

I don’t have one in my hands yet so I can’t pass comment on the quality or sizing, but from what I can tell it looks pretty good, with the slit and interior loop suggesting they’ve thought about the details, which probably means they’ve put a lot of thought into it overall. At $49 I’m fairly sure that they are more expensive than the old stock, were they $40 or was that just during sales?

There’s just two designs available on the new hoodie at the moment, but all new hoodie releases will be printed onto these hoodies rather than the old American Apparel stock they used to use.

New at Threadless this week (22/8/11)

by Andy on August 22, 2011

threadless t-shirts Apparently some rapscallions have stolen the wiring that provides Dee’s internet connection so she isn’t able to provide her usual overview of the weeks releases from Threadless. Don’t forget, the $10 sale is going strong (all of this weeks shirts are available at that price), and will be ending tomorrow at 5pm CT. Sometimes Threadless sales go on after the published date, but there have been no hints for that so far with this sale as far as I know.
