vicious history sping 2012

I was surprised when I heard that Vicious History had been on a nearly year-ong hiatus before the release of these four tees, I feel as if they were still pretty active as a brand, but if anyone’s going to know what they were up to over the past year, they are. Like I say in the title, this is a solid release, but when you’re harnessing the creative talents of Craig Robson, Matthew Skiff and Drew Millward that hardly comes as a surprise. All four designs are available now for $26 a piece.

t-shirt brand startup guide

If you’re well into launching your fifth season of t-shirts this guide probably isn’t for you, but if you’re just thinking about getting your toes wet in the exciting world of t-shirt commerce then I would very much recommend checking it out. To someone like me who has been reading guides like this for years there aren’t really many shocking revelations, but it is a really well-written guide that covers all the bases and gets you pointed in the right direction and gives you plenty ideas about things that you will need to research further. In fact, I think that the most important thing anyone can do before committing to starting a brand is doing more research than they think they need, because when it comes to tees there is no such thing as too much research, whilst getting out there and just doing it can teach you a lot, by the same token you can save yourself a lot of time and money by hitting the internet hard first and making sure you know exactly what you want.

Three new shirts from Vicious History

vicious history t-shirts

Vicious History dropped three new designs last week, as both t-shirts and tank tops. VH have an interesting design style that you don’t see too often, it’s kind of hard to pin down exactly what they are, but at least I know I can stick the “hey, those are cool looking t-shirts” pin into them.

napoleon t-shirt

I don’t really understand this shirt, it looks good, but I can’t really work out what the concept is behind it since a portriat of a military leader doesn’t really fit with the rest of Vicious History’s designs. Also, they’ve just released the Spring Line so you might want to check that out.

Genius Owl by Vicious History

I really like the style of this tee. Having a design that is just linework is fairly unusual, but I think that it works because of the use of a white colourway, even if it were brown (the more traditional owl colour) then it might suffer a bit, though a light grey could probably work quite nicely. Vicious History are a pretty new tee company, as you may have guessed from their name, they like to take more of a historical look at t-shirt designs and incorporate historic elements into their shirts. What does an owl have to do with history? I have no idea, but it does look kind of old time-y.
