There are a lot of t-shirts out there with vinyl records on them, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t like any of them, and I for one rather like this minimal take on the well worn theme. The dots for the actual record are a nice idea.

I’m sure I read somewhere that vinyl sales have actually been increasing over the past few years. There is certainly something a lot cooler about sliding a vinyl disc out of it’s sleeve, putting it on the player and carefully placing the needle down compared to fumbling around with an iPod with a wire going into your computer speakers.

Urban Retro was a name that whilst kind of generic and bland, at least you kind of knew what you were getting when you clicked a link, whereas Candy Pulse is a bit more ambiguous, even if it does sound an awful lot cooler. Quite a lot of their items (iPhone skins, vinyl toys, plush toys) do share many similarities with candy, you know you shouldn’t have them but really want them, and eventually give in and tell yourself this is the last time you’ll eat that delicious, delicious chocolate/MacBook gelaskin.
The new site is a big improvement on the old one though, this is definitely an onwards-and-upwards move from the UR/CP team, it’s nice to know there’s somewhere like this in the UK where I can pick up a present for a graphic designer-type friend if I need to. I’ve just noticed that this post is bit heavy on their non-clothing aspects, they do of course still sell a wide variety of tees, hoodies, and accessories.

I’ve never got into vinyl, I can see the appeal, and there is definitely something cool about it, but I just know I’d end up breaking my whole collection someday, so my issue with the format is that I don’t feel it is forever. Cool hoodie though (also available in different colours and as a t-shirt.

Artoys don’t just sell lovingly moulded pieces of vinyl, they also have a clothing line called ATZ that just dropped part of its fall collection, and they must have dropped it from a great height, because the designs are making a pretty big splash in the waters around the good ship HYA… that means I like them. Its hardly surprising that I like them considering they got the doodle-King Jon Burgerman on board to do a design for them, as well as some fellow called
Superdeux that I hadn’t heard of before but am glad I have now.

I’ve mentioned Tokidoki a fair few times in the past, but its usually posted to the womens category, well, today its the guys that are getting in on the Tokidoki action. This
hoodie is slightly less cutesy than the design that I usually associate with Tokidoki, but they seem to have retained the visual flair that so often draws me to this brand. It’s not exactly cheap, mind you.
