Rapanui Summer Collection

The British Summer is fashionably late and Rapanui, an Eco fashion brand has launched some brand new prints just in time.  The prints are made entirely from organic, natural fabrics in a wind-powered factory.  They’re printed by hand in the UK with Phthalate-free inks, which are better for the environment.  I love a good environmentally friendly brand and this whole wind-powered factory thing totally tops the charts! (cept, what happens if there’s no wind? no work that day?  I could dig it.)

Rob, a co-founder of Rapanui contacted us to share some of his favorite new releases.  The whole back-story behind Rapanui and how it came about is really inspiring so if you have a few minutes I’d definitely go check out and click around their website (which is very professional looking I might add).  Co-founders Rob & Martin grew up on the Isle of Wight in Sandown Bay and below is a picture of them.  That in itself should make you head over there and check it out – look at those floating surfboards!  My surfboard doesn’t float on grass like that, but then again I wasn’t born in a place called the Isle of Wight.  New Jersey doesn’t breed floating grass surfboards, only water ones.

Aside from that silliness, these new summer designs are slightly different from their usual prints.  This ones one of Rob’s personal favorites entitled “Wolfpack” and it’s a Women’s scoop neck printed on a white tee.

I’m part of a 2-man wolf-pack and so I could definitely appreciate the name of this tee, though I’m unsure of the whole giant animal head on a t-shirt thing.  I’ve seen a lot of brands doing it with cats lately too and I can’t wrap my head around it, but either way, props to Rapanui for their humorous product description and amazing look-book shots!  The Wolfpack tee is 24.95 Pounds which is approx. $38.71 USD (quite an odd price for a t-shirt).

This next one is called “Heroes” or as Rob described it, “the Iwo Jima Wind Turbine design”!  This one comes in white or grey and also has a pretty inspiring product description.  I like shirts like this that, simply put, look like someone pasted a photograph to the front of a t-shirt.  Done right (as this one is), it can really make for an incredible garment.

Coincidentally, this is priced the same as the Wolfpack tee.  I mean they’re both done in sort of grey tones so I could see how they got that!  If you can’t get with the designs maybe you can appreciate the Wind-Powered Factory? No, alright well check out their site because they do have a lot of good quality items in a variety of styles, some that even I have my eye on – maybe if the price wasn’t so odd.  Either way a lot of hard-work went into these garments being that they’re totally and completely Eco friendly and took a lot of wind to make.

Wolf on bike t-shirt design

If you love cycling and animals (I mean who doesn’t) then check out Dark Cycle Clothing. I love the idea of representing yourself as your favourite animal on a bike. I don’t see any bulls surprisingly, there are definitely a lot of bull cyclists. They also have a wheel and bones design, which is pretty cool.

You can visit them online at their Etsy store and grab yourself a t-shirt for $21 – $25.  They also offer you the opportunity to choose a specific colour t-shirt to print on and the pride themselves with cheap postage.

wolf t-shirt

Small Victory have got a few releases coming up in the next few weeks (always good to see a UK brand keeping busy) and this wolf design is the first of them. Available as both a t-shirt (£10) and a girls tunic (£12), no discount for picking them up on pre-order, but with prices that low you can hardly complain.

Symetric Wolf - Mr Rocks

By now everyone knows of the behemoth that is Design by Humans. Finding a good design on here is like wading through a swamp. But, spend some time trawling and some awesome designs rise to the surface. I recently purchased these two t-shirts (30% discount!) and hell am I chuffed.

First design is by Hydro 74 entitled Alchemy Owl and the second is by Mr Rocks entitled Symetricwolf. Both are a really good fit with tighter sleeves (check the pistols). However there is an odd line travelling down the centre of the wolf skulls face. This is either a msitake by printers or some lazy artworking.

Both t shirts are $20 from the DBH store. If you are shipping outside of USA, my advice is don’t get shafted for the faster delivery at $33 because I opted for the $11 2-3 week delivery and I received them in about a week.

80s movies t-shirt

Sorry about the intermittent service on HYA recently, our wireless router failed last week, I ordered another on rush delivery from Amazon and when it arrived it wouldn’t work, and our backup router is quite old and a little flakey which doesn’t help things. There is another router on the way from Amazon though, so hopefully all of this will be sorted out before I go on my traditional Christmas break.

Wow, there really were a lot of iconic movies released in 1985, cool shirt from TeeFury.

SinS Wolf Tee by Chateau Roux

by Andy on November 16, 2009

It’s nice to see someone making a tee with a wolf on it in 2009 that doesn’t reference a ridiculous internet meme of wearing an ugly shirt and claiming that it’s cool just because other people on the internet said it was. I realise that me telling you tees are cool on a daily basis is very similar to that, except usually, the tees I write about actually are cool.

Costiness=£35 Available from Chateau Roux (also available as a sweater)

I really like the red/blue on the print, but I’m not too sure that grey was the best choice for the blank.

Costiness=$13.99 (for a few more hours, then it goes up to $16.99) Buy it at Randr

Dance Party Massacre are a bunch of teases

by Andy on January 15, 2009

I try not to do preview posts because I usually end up forgetting to tell you about the products when they’re actually released, which makes the whole exercise rather pointless, but since two of these previews are old designs given a fresh makeover, and just one is unavailable in any incarnation, I thought you might want to check them out.

All three will be available at the end of the month from Dance Party Massacre.

Huff and Puff by LRG @ Karmaloop

Huff & Puff Grey Wolf Hoodie by LRG @ Karmaloop

Sometimes I see a hoodie that is so ridiculous I can’t stop myself from posting about it. This hoodie is most definitely one of those times.

I guess that if this was a costume hoodie then I could have nothing against it, and I don’t want to be too negative because part of me applauds the audacity of LRG for producing a hoodie that attempts to make the wearer look like a wolf, but then I just can’t imagine a good time or occasion that I would want to wear it.

Huff & Puff Grey Wolf Hoodie by LRG @ Karmaloop

The red hood lining is pretty little-red-riding-hood-tastic though, so they have clearly put a lot of thought into this, although it would have been cool if the zip went all the way up so that you could close the mouth on the wolf and have a quick-and-easy Halloween costume, though I would presume that LRG were trying to avoid suggestions of costumery.

Costiness=$94 Link (for what seems like the 1000th time… if you use the rep code AS7594 you’ll get up to 20% off your Karmaloop order and support HYA in the process)
