A blog about hoodies & t-shirts, with news from the independent clothing world

ZickZack by Yackfou

Here’s a fun take on a pattern print from the Berliners at Yackfou, and as part of their summer sale season its reduced in price until August 12th. Every week they’re taking a couple of items from their store and putting them on sale, so check back each week if there’s something you’ve had your eye on but weren’t quite willing to part with your cash for.

Yackfou’s new store in Berlin

Shirtspotting headed down to Yackfou’s store on opening day to take advantage of that special 50% off one-day sale, and also to snap a few pictures. Google Translate hasn’t done a particularly good job in letting us non-German speakers understand what Markus is actually saying, but from what I can tell, he likes it.Click on through for more pictures.

Yackfou open a shop? Wunderbar!

Do you remember Yackfou? They’re a bunch of Berliners who produce clothes that have a touch of awesome about them, and now you don’t just have to buy those clothes online, you can buy them in their shop (yes, a real shop, with windows and stuff).Well, not quite yet, the shop, located on the Boxhagener Platz, Friedrichshain, in the centre of Berlin, doesn’t actually open until July 5th, and when it does, Berliners, you’re gonna want to head down. On the opening day, everything in the shop is going to have 50% off, which certainly isn’t a price cut to be sniffed at (whatever that means). They’ll also be selling prototype and sample pieces in the shop, which is nice.

Yack Fou is new to me, and I must say that I am very, very impressed. Impressed to the point were I’m not at all concerned that they’ve slapped their name on almost all their products!

There’s a lot of strong, bright and vibrant colours, combined with well-defined vector art based designs. The style creates some really modern and refreshing designs, I’ve been struglling to describe the style (so many rewrites!) but I think in some cases its almost as if they’ve taken web-design and transplanted it onto clothing (let’s hope MySpace don’t steal that idea…).

I wish I could tell you more about the brand, but I don’t really speak any German, though they did tell me that they are working on an English verision, and you’ll be able to work your way around quite easily (katalog=catalogue, shop=shop, need more?).
